The riots and protests are against an increasingly abusive Islamic gov growing more fundamentalist. The US media and Obama want to avoid that kind of narrative. Doesn't fit any moronic "Muslim Spring" theme. In Turkey it was the military that kept the sketchy theocrats from being too influential. Erdogan had many of the military sent to prison years ago. He wants Turkey to lead the Ummah.
