Why are thing so painfully slow?

Can anyone answer me this? I have a cable modem and this site has gotten soooo much slower. And no, it's not on my end.
 
OK, let me try this. I already knew there was a bandwidth cap, that was not what I was looking for. My question is this.
When there are 300 - 600 people on line does this thing drop to a crawl or is it just me? And another question,
how much faster once you subscribe?

Those are just the people who are logged in. At any given time, the number browsing the forums can be five or six times that number.

Do you remember when you were on dialup? It's like the difference between the cable modem you have now, and the speed you got on dialup. VERY fast and definitely worth $2.50 a month.

i'm on 56k (i more day tommorow dsl baby)but on the forums i got dsl speeds by subscribing🙂

also a friend on cable recently came over and seen i was on modem and could not believe i was surfin as fast as his cable(i kept him in suspence for a little while by staying on anandtech,but when he went to talking about giving up cable i came clean and went to other sites.i had him going though😉

and what benefit do they get from fantastic growth from here on out? The neccesity to add even more servers to load up even more crap-paying ads so they can lose even more money on the forums?

only for chat whores, my opinion. No need, will never subscribe either. Make it slow for 75% of the people including lurkers and this forum will soon be dead.
 
You all should know it is a matter of rescorses the main one being MONEY Anand's is limited and so are mine. There are those willing to subscribe but do not have the rescorses MONEY. I know a person that posts on here sometimes that has a income of $950.00 per month, disabled and no way to get more income. To bad he is called a Freeloader by some.

If that person is unable to afford it, tell him to PM me, I'll send viperGTS the money, and he can buy it with his one-time use CC. (assuming he is willing). 12K/year though, isnt even poverty level.
