Why are there so many Sony haters on ATOT?

But that $670 price includes an HD-DVD player that'll likely be useless if the current trend continues, so you might as well not buy it.

Ferrari doesn't target everyone they target the super rich, flawed argument.

If I want a game machine, I can get one from Microsoft for $300, if i want one from Sony I have to pay $600, it doesn't matter if I don't want BluRay or high def or wireless, they're forcing it down my throat.

With the PS2, the DVD player was a bonus, you were paying $300 for the system (which was a common price point for systems, including the original PS) so you could play video games, and as a bonus it could also play DVD movies, win-win. With the PS3, the BluRay player is an anchor weighing it down, you have to pay more than you did in the past to get it. Where is my $300 core system so I can just play the games? Oh, it doesn't exist because Sony f***ed up.

seriously, most people in the industry are saying sony's main flaw with this generation is their pricing point. a video game console, no matter how powerful should not cost more than

the 3D0 was $600 when it was released. the Atari Jaguar was more expensive than most of everything out there at its time, granted those were first attempts into the video game market from those companies, and this is the third generation for sony, but you have to admit that 600 is way too much, no matter what bonus bluray or bluetooth you get.

there are only 2 options left for sony
a) drop the price
b) secure MORE exclusives and stop the flow of defects from third parties

with the wii's success, and the 360's market share, i can't see B) happening.

just because you make enough money doesn't mean you are going to spend it on a video game console. i think myself as pretty well-off, and i don't think PS3 is cheap. in fact, i don't even think the XBOX 360 is cheap, but at least it's reasonable.

microsoft..sure they are rather shady at times, but they don't sink that low.

rootkits/proprietary formats/drm on everything etc. only make sony even worse. they have a general disregard for their customers. just look at the lies during the marketing of the ps3.

i agree with that last sentence. but microsoft have their fair share of suing the everyday joe.
didnt they cause a big stink in russia suing some principal of a school for having a company in to install pirated Windows XP? and failed to go after the source instead?

I'm still not convinced. The 360 had crap game selection for well over a year. The wii has a whopping 1 good game (maybe two with paper mario out). I guess time will tell. You conveyed your point better then just whining, so I give you that.
