Why are there so many jerks on the net??!!

the net is some place where nobody knows who you are. you can be anyone you want. you can treat anyone how you want to treat them without consequence. its just how the net works. its a place to be fake. a place to escape reality because you get picked on real life and would not even dare say some of the stuff you say online to someone in person.

ive talked to a few people online who act all crazy and childish and they were the most quietest people on the phone.

My anonymity is a defensive reaction to the anomymity of others on the net. In other words, I'm not jumping in until everyone jumps in.

And as I said, I'm still struggling over the issue. I'm not 100% sure of either side, but I do know I'm leaning more towards using real names.

frankly, i think the vast majority of what you are talking about can be attributed to bad parenting (not lack of spanking though). we have changed into a society where both parents work, which makes it less likely that children will get the same amount of attention as they have in the past. children are much less a focus today then they were 50 years ago.

well also the reason he can't remember any is because they weren't reported as much reporting on crime has steadily increased, crime has decreased go figure

Yep, the rate of child abductions has not really increased, only the media attention to it. And note that the media will report whatever puts the most fear in people's hearts. They'll spend hours reporting on a child abducted out of their own home, because it scares people more than a child abducted from an amusement park or mall.

My reference to child crime was directed to some of these young children charged with murder. Even though the news media has undergone radical changes, I am sure something like this Text would have gotten some media attention. The kid was 11 when he pulled out a gun and shot somebody.....
