Why are there no Black Friday deals on cars?

Last weekend I bought a 6 month old car with 2000 miles on it that stickered for over $26k for $15.5k.

I don't think Car Dealerships experience the same upswing in sales at this time of year anyway. Department stores and stuff make a lot of their money because everyone's out buying each other gifts. People don't generally buy other people a CAR as a gift. At least, my friends don't. If you do this, will you be my friend? Please?

A car as a gift is the ultimate "get out of gift giving" card for a husband.

Just plan your car purchase around Valentine's Day, her birthday or Christmas and you don't have to worry about getting another gift. If you have to buy a car anyway might as well get some use out of it yourself.

Historically, I think November is about the worse month behind January in terms of car sales.

You'd think the incentives/deals would be high right now to help boost sales.

Fail [insert generic lolcat]. Negotiate up from their cost (being sure to account for holdback and any other manufacturer to dealer incentives & reimbursements) and don't be suckered into fees for so-called "documentation" and "pre-delivery inspection". Essentially, negotiate their profit and make them justify anything beyond which you deem reasonable (without being a prick about it). Using an itemized cost list and communicating via email precludes virtually all of the BS.

The negotiated prices are far lower than advertised sales prices. What exactly in the problem? If you can't get a good deal on a car take the bus.

You're absolutely correct.

Dealers are trying to move old inventory (2007 models) and salespeople are trying to make their end of month quota's.

The end of November and December is the BEST times of year to buy a new car.

I think Black Friday is mainly centered on doorbuster sales in store outlets and such, and not rarely on vehicles.

Nah. It's a Chevy. A Malibu Maxx. A dead trim level on a model that under a brand new refresh.

There were a couple brand new ones still laying around that stickered for around 26k that I could have walked away with for around $18,500.

But I was looking for a little more value and found the one with 2k miles on it for another $3,000 less.

It's not best looking car in the world, but it's comfortable, safe, functional, and reliability has been decent if you look at objective sources. I needed a baby hauler and it was a good compromise of what I wanted.
