My issues with HDTV:

1. Bit Rate is to low.

2. All live sports events should be 60p.

3. Interlacing should not have been used for the HDTV standard.

4. Most films are 24p still so you need a good line doubler.

Hindsight is 20/20. The year is 2009, 1080p/60 for everything. Maybe someday, back then we never though 1080p displays would even be available for under 20,000 dollars.

In 5 years you'll be saying "The year is 2014, 4k/120 for everything." ;)

Damn straight I will!

Well I guess hindsight and foresight are 20/20 (or better than 20/20 as it were when our native resolution gets higher than the human eye can resolve at acceptable seating distances)

BluRays are 1080p.

And 1080i...ugh! I'd rather watch a 480p CRT TV!

You wouldn't be able to tell if your source was 1080i or 1080p.

If you are serious... damn. What an idiot.

1080i = the same resolution as 1080p (1080 lines per frame). The only difference is that each 30hz frame is made of 2 interlaced fields capable of updating at 60hz if each field is unique. If they are from a 24p source, they equal 1080p/24 (every single pixel is reproduced). If they are from a 60hz source with 60 unique fields a second, they equal 1080p on still shots and 1080i on pans and in motioon, where it will be harder to resolve resolution anyway. It's a non-issue.
