for about 2 weeks now ive had flies around my house. just a couple here or there keep flying around.

theyre not the big standard flies either... like tiny mm sized flies that hang around rotten fruit at cheap asian supermarket.

i dont get it - my kitchen is clean. i leave NOTHING in the sink. scrubbed stuff sits in dishwasher. pantry is doored closed. there are no fruits or vegetables sitting out in open. wtf is up????

you might have had somthing die in a wall cavity and there are maggots and therefore flies in the walls,

fwiw i have a "swamp cooler" running 24/7.. but theres a filter on that so nothing should be able to get in

Little moths? Maybe millers moths? They breed in grain. I used to get them really bad when I had birds. I also recently had an infestation. I had a box of hummus mix in the back of a cabinet that I didn't know was there. It was acting like a moth nursery, and I had tons of those sons of bitches flying around the house.

do you have any plants in the house, little gnats can live in the soil sometimes.
do you have any food in trashcan or somewhere in house
if none to either above, get draino and put in all your sinks/drains in the house and see if that works. or you can use bleach

I threw some oils and leftover fat scraps in a spaghetti jar, forgetting to close the lid, somehow flies got in and laid eggs, then I had maggots 🙁

-no plants inside house
-only food trashcan stays closed
-i run the insinkerator every night. so no residue in there....... but will try the draino this weekend (bathtub a little clogged) so thanks

After hitting your drains with bleach/draino/whatever, try this to get your problem under control.

Take some fruit/juice/whatever they like and put it into the bottom of a tall glass. Roll a piece of paper into a cone shape so that the tip is very small but open. Put the cone into the cup so that the tip points down. Seal the cone/glass w/ some tape. The idea is that the scent can waft out and draw the flies into the cup, but the tiny opening makes it damn near impossible for them to find their way out. Do this a few times and exchange the bait every now and then. Also, if you're going to cook something, make sure you kill them off before starting to cook- they'll smell the food and escape.

apple cider vinegar on a small bowl covered with saran wrap and a couple holes.

flies go in, cant find their way out, drown in the vinegar.

very potent, fruit flies cant get enough of it.

Thanks. I'll give these ideas a try. I saw a couple this week.

My sister had a bunch of gnat-like ones and we eventually traced them to her Money Tree (asian plant). They were growing in the rockey water bowl/root system.
