Why are there 8 (maybe 10, YMMV) hotdogs to a pack, while only 6 (maybe 8, YMMV) buns to a package?

Any thoughtful insights into this? One of those burning questions like what came first, the chicken or the egg.

It's part of a vast government conspiracy.

It's usually 10 hot dogs and 8 to a package. If you buy bun length hotdogs then it's 8 & 8.

its because you have to buy another package of buns that way they can sell you 4 more buns then you need its the bread companies marketing strategy

The answer is simple.

No matter how many worldly possessions you have, you will still be left feeling incomplete.
Once you attain enlightenment, you will understand why it is that the number of the hotdogs and buns does not matter.
It is who they are fed to that determines their weight.

That doesn't make sense, because hotdog manufacturers don't make the buns... so there's no benefit for them.

They answered this question in Bulletproof Monk.

Yup. I paraphrased the initial response.
Anyone want to get the second one? :D

For the life of me I can't remember how exactly it goes. I was too busy staring at Jamie King's hoo-hoos.

it bennifets the Bread company you have to buy almost two bags of buns for every package of hotdogs you buy. Therefore the bread company makes twice as much

Perhaps they figure we'll drop one or two into the BBQ...However, there is a much more fundamental and burning question in the world of hotdog conspiracies...Why do normal non-Kosher hotdog packs generally contain 8 dogs while the Kosher dogs come in packs of 7?

Brilliant I tell you...
