Ignorance for most.

For some, it's a touch of Ted Kaczynski-ism.

I did. I also talked nicely to the azaleas as I was getting my bike out to ride to work. :D

Wired mag has made a pretty good case for nukes as the most viable "green" energy source for the future. I'll see if I can find the links.

Which is why we need to roll back the laws concerning reprocessing. The stuff we toss as "waste" still has like 90% of it's usable energy intact.

No. My trees are jealous trees. They catch me fooling around and they're liable to drop a branch on my head or something. :Q

This conversation is going nowhere good. :D

I am against it for nuclear waste. Fix that and call me.

I don't care how much energy it produces -- for me it's all offset by the potential for danger with the waste that is produced.

There is more radioactive waste generated by coffee brewing than by all nuclear energy production. In fact your spent coffee grounds couldn't be allowed in a low level waste storage area because they are too highly radioactive.

This is your answer OP, ignorant people - usually liberals.

Oops, now this belongs in P&N. Sorry

I think in the mind of a true environmentalist, even the smallest possibility is too much.

And yet thousands die each year from lung diseases cause by the output from oil and coal fired power stations. How many are dying each year from nuclear waste?

You're like an anti-fur protester who will step over a guy lying in his own piss to spray paint a woman wearing fur.

QFT. We could generate more energy putting coal in solvent and siphoning out the Uranium with less air pollution, than pure fossil fuel burning.

It is because, even though they believe they are progressionists, they really are regressionists.

It is better to realize that, no matter how progressive/regressive you think you are, chances are it has been done in one form or another in history. That is just IMO BTW.

bs, I'm a liberal (if I was living in the USA you would probably label me as a communist).
nuclear energy is just common sense, and "liberal" countries like France and Belgium depend on it for 70% of their energy production
