Why do people hate suv so much? I can see for one how people drive suv's like they handle just like cars. sometime going to school, getting off the highway and going onto 16 mile rd, it like 90 degree right turn, i'll see people in suv and regular ol car try taking that turn at like 40mph.

They are huge and block my vision. They eat up a lot of gas. They take up too many parking spots on the street.

Basically, I live in a big city, and if you have an Escalade or otherwise huge SUV here, chances are you are just a damn asshole.

SUVs are hated because they burn TONS of gas and aren't environmentally friendly and in most cases the people driving them could do just as well with a car that gets twice the gas mileage of their SUV while putting out less emissions.

I think it's mostly just the people that drive SUVs yet have no need for them.

<-- Grabs a lawnchair & a cold

Heavy and eat up the streets. People drive them wrecklessly. Big and block driver's view. Eat up a ton of gas and are partially responsible for the high gas prices. Very wide and I hate driving by them on narrow roads.

Anyhow, this clip from the Discovery channel perfectly captures the mentality of the average SUV driver.

What SUV's are you talking about? Sure, if you compare something small to a minivan it might, but most SUV's that are the same size as a minivan have as much or more space, plus they can tow more.

i think the ford escape are about the same size as the orignal ford explorers. the ford explorers have really gotten bigger over the years.

You will have more space in a mini-van because an SUV is just a mini-van jacked up 12 inchs and 6 inches less head room with no sliding door.

Edit As for towing shaping a car like a box is know to add 10% extra towwing ablity

whats the difference betweena capped ranger and an explorer? a capped f-150 and an expedition?

people need to bitch in order to feel better about themselves.

I have no articles per say.. but just a bit of research.

All as per edmunds:

2006 Dodge caravan - max. cargo capacity 147 cu ft.
2006 Chrysler Town and Country - max cargo capacity 168 cu ft.
2006 Mazda MPV - max cargo 127 cu. ft.
2006 Saturn Vue - max cargo 137 ci. ft.
2006 Honda Odyssey - max cargo 147 cu ft.

2006 Ford explorer - max cargo 85cu. ft.
2006 Ford expedition - max cargo 111cu ft.
2006 Dodge durango - max cargo 102 cu ft.
2006 Cadalliac Escalade - mac cago 105 cu ft.

I could keep going, but you get the point.

SUVs can tow much more, but let's face it the vast majority of people never do and never will tow with their SUV. Anyone who does serious towing, owns a truck.

btw, I don't hate suv's but the reality is people don't buy them for their "utility".

a pickup is actually useful

1) Like 90% of the SUVs on the road do not have mud guards meaning I have to have a big distance between my car and the SUV unless I want rocks flying into my windshield.

2) Block viewing distance, have to drive way far behind in order to get a good viewing distance.

3) They use more gas, creating more demand for gas, more demand means higher prices, so I have to pay more in gas thanks to SUVs driving up the demand.

4) When I pull out of a parking spot and I have a SUV parked next to me I cant see anything and have to pull out super slow.

5) Gigantic and dangerous to cars in collision.

I second miri's statements...I don't hate SUVs, but I think the world would be better off without ones the size of short busses.
