Why are some sites selling T-bird 700's when other sites say they only make 750 and higher?

What's the dealyo?! I want one for my K7V. It seems to be very overclockable for about the same price as a regular Athlon

The 700's are whitebox and are supposed to go to Gateway, Dell, HP,... You will only see retail Tbirds at 750 and above.

AMD has not 'Officially' announced the 700 T/Bird'. It does seem strange as this speed seems to be the most readily available. Dang, the Home Shopping Network, sold like 5000 systems with the 700 t/Bird a couple of days before AMD announced any t/Birds. Strange stuff !!

I ordered a Slot A T-Bird 700 yesterday from Thompsons (tcwo.com)for $179.00. Hoping to hit 850 with a GFD.

Well hopefully this'll be good news for you Fathom...

I just got a T-Bird 700 Slot A today and am running @ 850 with a GFD. I've tried both the Northwind and Leufkin and they work flawlessy. I can get into windows @ 900 but it's not very stable. Hopefully the 'burn-in' process will allow me to get higher in time. Over time, I was able to go another 100 mHz than originally with my classic Athlon.

I got my system together yesterday. I'm using a K7OC GFD and it hit 850 @ 1.8v with no problems and was very stable. At the moment I'm typing away at 900 @ 1.9v and it's very stable athough I may drop it back to 850 @ 1.8 as I'm not to thrilled about running the voltage this high. But it is very fast and stable for a $179.00 processor.

Needless to say I'm thrilled with the performance.

Wonderful, man ;)

Mine's not quite that stable. I have to go to 1.9v @ 900 before it will be fairly stable. I'm going to stick to 1.85v @ 850 for a while and try 900 later on.
