AMD has not 'Officially' announced the 700 T/Bird'. It does seem strange as this speed seems to be the most readily available. Dang, the Home Shopping Network, sold like 5000 systems with the 700 t/Bird a couple of days before AMD announced any t/Birds. Strange stuff !!
Well hopefully this'll be good news for you Fathom...
I just got a T-Bird 700 Slot A today and am running @ 850 with a GFD. I've tried both the Northwind and Leufkin and they work flawlessy. I can get into windows @ 900 but it's not very stable. Hopefully the 'burn-in' process will allow me to get higher in time. Over time, I was able to go another 100 mHz than originally with my classic Athlon.
I got my system together yesterday. I'm using a K7OC GFD and it hit 850 @ 1.8v with no problems and was very stable. At the moment I'm typing away at 900 @ 1.9v and it's very stable athough I may drop it back to 850 @ 1.8 as I'm not to thrilled about running the voltage this high. But it is very fast and stable for a $179.00 processor.
Needless to say I'm thrilled with the performance.
Mine's not quite that stable. I have to go to 1.9v @ 900 before it will be fairly stable. I'm going to stick to 1.85v @ 850 for a while and try 900 later on.
