Why are some of my files suddenly 0KB?

I was sorting out my hard drive a couple weeks ago and noticed a file's size abruptly became 0KB. I hadn't done anything to it. I figured it was some disk fluke.

Now, I just found another one. Thankfully these weren't important files, but something has to be happening in order to have the file either overwritten with 0KB or misrepresented on the FAT.

Any clues as to what could be happening? Is this a symptom of a bad HD?

FWIW, this disk is on the auxiliary IDE connector on my MSI motherboard -- usually reserved for RAID, and as a result I've been forced to run this disk as a single volume RAID one,

Yeah I'd think that too.

I had a virus attack all of my pictures and over write them with crap or made them in to 0Kb also :(

Good thing I keep a back of my stuff. Man those family weddings pics and such lost would have NOT been good!

Hmm, apparently AVG decided to stop updating sometime last month. What a crock. Scanning now.
