No. As I said above, MP are the MHz of the digital camera world.Originally posted by: khlee
is the difference between a 2mp and 3mp camera only the resolution of pics it can take?
ie pictures taken at the same resolution by both cameras have exactly the same quality?
im thinking whether to get the a60 or a70

35mm SLR for me. I won't buy a digital until the DSLR come into my effective price range ... I could buy one now but I just wouldn't use it enough to justify the $900 pricetag for the lowest end.
Flatbed scanner and pictureCDs works fine until then![]()
Nobody is going to pay that for it. The big deal is the Hot Deals that can be had on that camera. With it being sold at Staples or OfficeMax, you could do a price match, add a coupon and rebate, and walk off with a great deal. Anybody who paid over $250.00 for it, didn't try very hard.Originally posted by: Skoorb
I was at BB just now. The camera retails there for $300. $200 will buy a Fuji wth the 3x/3.2 megapixel (same as the canon). Or, $300 will get a 3.1 megapixel/6X optical (!!) Fuji. What am I missing here?

Heh well there are things I can do with my SLR film that you couldn't dream of with just about any consumer digicam out there
Film will be around for quite some time, mark my words.

But we are not far off from digital surpassing film. Mark my words.Maybe.. 10 years?
It will be like CDs and Tapes. You can still get tapes, but who uses them?![]()
The Canon EOS-1Ds pretty much blurs the lines between film and digital cameras. Yeah it costs an arm and a leg, but this camera is freakin' AMAZING!Originally posted by: konichiwa

Not really. There will always be advantages to film. Or at least through the forseeable future, barring some sort of digital revolution.
Yep. We're already there, really.Originally posted by: JackBurton

That's a selling point for me. Take more shots before battery change.was looking into the a70. but took it off my list when i saw it needs 4 batteries!!
SLRs have point and shoot modes, too.I've no idea -- I hate point and shoot cams and refuse to buy one

I know!! I dont' get it either... it's such a huge camera and takes a bunch of batteries. I'd rather use a cannon SD100 anyday for about the same price.

Different cameras totally. BTW it takes 4 AA batteries, mine can shoot about 350pics....if my batteries die I can easily buy another 4 AA's to get my pictures done. The SD100 takes a proprietary pack....

Yeah, the A70 is a bit overrated. I got one for my sister for Christmas, and I don't think that it is as nice as my S45. My camera has a bigger and brighter LCD, is more compact, and has all of the same manual features. The lens attachment option is nice, though, but I doubt that my sister will ever use it.
I'd refuse to buy something that requires propietary packs or memory.Proprietary battery packs and memory cards are bogus, dude. Give me AA's and CF, thanks.

I love this macro feature ya'll are talking about. I know that my camera I have can't take a pic any closer than about 3 feet, and it's a bit of a pain.
Any extra details on the lens option? 3X optical is ok (digital who gives a fvck about that) - with the lens add ons can you get additional zooming, and how much zooming for what cost? :0
BTW this is almost sure to be a bestbuy purchase, because I have $75 in GCs for BB. I suppose I could buy a new xbox and sell mine as an as-is, because of the damn DVD player in it though.
