Everywhere we see that guys are willing to do so much work for their chick (example), get your life utterly smashed upside down because of thier chick (example), and put up with so much garbage from their chick (example). We get married, fully knowing that the odds are that you will get divorced and lose half your assets. You know completely well that she demands much more out of you than vice versa and wouldn't deal with half the problems that you have to.

Is it really about sex?

if in your mind a 20 minute trip to the post office qualifies as "so much work" I feel sorry for you.

did you read the thread, it was about the girl using his time to satisfy her need for attention, while giving nothing back to him. the 20 min trip was 20 minutes wasted for the guy, not time he felt he spent with her. it sounds like this happens often and is more about the lack of care for his wants and time. it sounds like the girl is not being loving when she is with him, making tasks like going biking with her seem like work and not fun time

Sorry I read the thread and thought the guy's complaint was rather lame.If he didn't want to go he should have just said no.

or mabye he just thought that his gf would appreciate him going out of his way for her when he clearly didn't have to?

Explain to me please how taking a 20 minute ride on one's bicycle qualifies as an over the top, going out of my way for her type of issue that requires all sorts of praise, goodies and treats to be lavished on a guy?

Do you insist that RD go with you everywhere and try to lay a guilt trip on him if he doesn't want to go?

Don't try to explain his beliefs - one trip to P&N and one should know sandari does not employ the use of logic :p

Too many guys are growing up without a father figure to beat the hell out of them when they're acting like a pvssy (i.e. too many single moms raising their sons alone). Guys are afraid of not getting sex, which is why they're willing to risk half of their assets to a marriage contract. The irony here is that marriage doesn't guarantee sex, as most married couples know by now.

Being an adult I would assume that if I asked somebody if they'd like to take a brief ride with me while I run an errand that they'll say yes if they want to and no if they don't.

A whole lot of life is spent in doing routine tasks and expecting to have attention and praise lavished on you for spending a bit of time with your SO while they get stuff done is totally unrealistic. She asked him to ride with her, she didn't expect him to just go by himself and do her the favor of shipoping her packages for her.

Do guys honestly marry because they're afraid of not getting laid?

What kinds of things would you consider to deserve "lavished praise"?

I have no idea Nik but as a person who regularly rides a bicycle I would regard
being asked if I wanted to tag along on such an errand as an invite to get a bit of exercise, not as some sort of favor that my SO will then owe me praise and applause for.

Lol @ my thread finding its way here. I love going on bike rides with her, I do it all the time, in fact I was riding around with her for all of sunday (yesterday). In retrospect it seemed like the request was the equivalent to me saying "hey, ridee to EBGames with me " and then spending 10 minutes talking to an employee about how cool xxxx game is, and then riding home. Sure, I get to talk to her on the bike ride, but taking her somewhere I want to go just so that she can stand around and wait wouldn't be nice. I wouldn't ask her to do that, and it doesn't seem fair for her to ask me to do the same.

edit: and its not about how much attention she gives me while she's there, its that I KNEW that an errand like this meant I'd end up standing around waiting, and I did. Just like I know that if I took her to EBGames for the sole purpose of talking to that employee she'd end up standing around waiting too. I guess she didn't see that it was unnecessary for me to be there.

I've actually found that often times guys will use there SO as a reason for doing stuff or not doing stuff when actually they are the reason but are too scared to say that to their friends. So they say stuff like (my girlfriend made me got shopping for the bathroom...or my girlfriend is making we watch Desperate Housewives). Anyway, they all get mocked by their frends as being whipped when most likely they wanted to do both activities.

That being said, there are a lot of instances where guys are whipped by their SO (have to report in every hour just so she knows where you are kind of crap). It seems particularly bad in the "geek sector" becaue the guys seem to have less self esteem in the relationship department and are more willing to put up with crap.

Anyway, that is my theory.
