Why are postal workers lazy?

I prefer to go to the counter when I buy stamps too. I want to get my $0.44 cents worth and that means personal service. No vending machine for me. I also make it a habbit to make idle chit-chat with the attendant. I love to chit chat in direct proportion to the length of the line. It always tends to make people in line start looking at their watch and uncomfortable. This works at the DMV too.

They are ridiculously overworked and stressed like you wouldnt believe.
Many are in constant danger of losing their jobs thanks to the politicians trying to impress voters with budget cuts.

There is no vending machine next to the counter. I looked.

I think the removal of the vending machines is a conspiracy by the post office to justify having such a huge workforce. My local PO said their vending machine was removed because it was too expensive to maintain. mmmkay.
