Why are people so insistant on 9/11 conspiracies?

I don't have a lot of time here, so I will post a more detailed reply later. I just wanted to say that I DO enjoy this discussion, and I'm glad it is staying semi-civil. I have been spending time on some of the conspiracy websites, specifically on the "Loose Change" forums, and I have to say that Notorius presents a much more coherent case than all of them put together (although he does tend to use way too many smileys and thumbs ups, just like they do... what's up with that?) Other than that you handle yourself like an adult most of the time, and I respect that.

Scott: you complain that people are calling named and being rude (which is true of many people) and yet you call names and are rude in the same post! And then out comes the "disinformation agents" implication... which I hear quite frequently on the LC forums. I don't know if you are talking about me or other posters here. But don't you think that if anything, we are ENCOURAGING the "public discussion" rather than "suppressing" it? How is my posting here back and forth with Notorius (you have never posted anything for me) doing anything to silence you "movement"?

There are real, live questions not answered about 9-11. Questions about building design, questions about communication, questions about fire protection, questions about the role of the military in protecting civilian airspace, questions about civil liberties during a time of war when the exact nature of the war and the duration of it are unclear. In my opinion, when we waste time discussing nonsensical things like vast conspiracies, we take time away from the real issues.

Not to worry, I will be back later when I have some free time to discuss the last few posts further.

"you call names and are rude"
I've no idea what you're referring to.
??? ??? ??? If there's something you perceive in that light, it certaintly wasn't intended by me.

"out comes the "disinformation agents" implication."
I've worked in the black world of secrets, and because of my experience, I know for certain that public forums such as letters to editors in newspapers, posts on popular web boards, talk radio call ins, other forums, are definitely used by "disinformation agents," you have no idea. If you think that's paranoid, that merely means you have no exposure to that black world. And if you haven't, I fully appreciate that it sounds comic-book ridiculous. You just have no idea.

'on the LC forums"
I don't know what LC forums is. To me, LC means letter of credit.

I don't spend much time in forums. Mostly AT is just entertainment for me, that I can dip in & out of quickly when I want a momentary lighthearted pressure relieving diversion from work, or while I'm waiting for a phone call to come in or for a visitor to arrive or something. About the only other forums I look at have to do with computer overclocking techniques, which I do. I do not post in any conspiracy forums, if that's what you mean.

What I had in mind was the AT posters who don't want to discuss the subject of the thread, but instead throw insults intended to stomp out and kill discussion, and I think you'll agree with me, like:

I still think its ignited swamp gases reflecting off of Venus but thats just me.

That's enough examples to illustrate the problem I was talking about, of posters trying to derail discussion.

Any scholar publishing a journal paper expects other scholars to attack it, challenge its assumptions, data integrity, methods and conclusions. That's the scientific method.

It's so weird how some people on AT get all worked about anyone questioning ?The 9/11 Commission Report.?

To question is scientific. To question is a virtue.

No, weird isn't the word. The word is scary, because AT posters throwing catcalls like 'tin hat conspiracy theorist,' and submissive sheep they sweep up & carrying along, have a vote.

It's weird anyone on AT would take a position that the Report is immaculate, not to be questioned, or even discussed. I'd bet few of the ones who act like that have even read the Report.

Obviously some posters intentionally seek to disrupt discussion with juvenile ridicule. I wonder if some of them even may be disinformation agents tasked to suppress public discussion.

AT moderators, why do you allow those posters who throw childish ridicule to continue that behavior here?

And why do the rest on AT cooperate with and join in with the misbehavior of those posters? Does it feel safe piling onto their childish 'appeal-to-common-wisdom thing ? 'Secure in the herd? Bleet bleet?

I won't tolerate behavior like that for a minute from anyone I deal with in any department of life. Even in the elementary schools they have posters teaching little ones to not ridicule or call names. But here if anyone questions the Report, on credible basis, many pile on with name calling.

Yes, truly scary. Don't allow storm trooper tactics to silence all inquiry & discussion.

Don't quote posts that contain ridicule. Don't add onto the ones expressing that rotten attitude.

Y O U !!! Wake up! Things we're being told are wrong, to justify Patriot Act reduction of freedoms and war. Question everything. Be a citizen! Be a patriot! Vigorously defend our freedoms! Y O U !!!

Dear Scott, when you advocate ridiculous views, expects to be ridiculed.
I thought you didn?t have time for this tread anymore.
Who do you think are the disinformation agents on this forum? Or is this just another wild theory of yours?
