Why are movie trailers pretty much the entire movie in 2-5 minutes.

Watch any movie trailer and pretty much you see the whole movie.

Beginning/middle/end scenes.

it's 2 minutes of the best parts of the movie. They want you to get excited enough to buy a ticket. If they played all the boring parts and out of order to preserve the best parts for when you see the movie then you're less likely to see it.

teaser trailers are the best. just like appetizers before the entree.

who wants to eat 2 entrees?

Agreed. I will watch a teaser, but anything more for a film that I am interested in? No way.

You are right. Such trailers are stupid. Especially since most Hollywood movies are so formulaic that anyone can easily know the entire movie that way.

The Spider-Man 2 trailer was horribly guilty of this. I knew the whole movie before walking in.

The X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer was just perfect.

It is an older movie. Talking about 2014 not 1999 ;) ya.

Something like a million ways to die in the west, the trailer is all you need to see. Actually, the trailer was better because they made the movie seem like something its not...funny.

I never watch trailers for movies I'm interested in anymore. Not only do they give too much away now, but they also make it look like stuff will happen that often doesn't happen. I wait the whole movie for two quotes to line up and they never do. Fuck that
