Why are most fireworks illegal in Michigan?

I've never understood this. It is very whet here and there are almost never fires. It is also basically the redneck/gun capital of the US. You can shoot just about anything here and yet you can't light a firecracker.

And, there is a zero tolerance policy in Dearborn. If your caught you have to be ticketed. $500 fine and chances that you'll have to do some work release.

Letting people off on this is not very easy with all the cameras in the Dearborn cop cars.

Here in Colorado you can't buy any fireworks at all. The governor banned their sales because of the forest fires. You can drive up to Wyoming and buy them, but law enforcement is really strict this year. I have only heard maybe three firecrackers go off in the last few days. It's really quiet around here.

heh.......I don't know either, since I can drive 30 minutes to get to Canada and buy whatever I want, or go to another state. Not that I really care that much about fireworks......however, last year my friend had a party, and he was shooting up bottle rockets (holding them in his hand) along with roman candles, while he was drunk...........it was interesting.

Also, the Rochester city fireworks finished just 30 minutes ago, we could see the bigger ones from the 2nd floor of our house. (Troy)

Only things that explode or fly are prohibited, fountains and things aren't. So the issue isn't the fire risk.
