Exactly. People who have skinnny arms will say it's stupid to have large mucles/biceps b/c they don't have them and are unable or unwilling to work for them. Those of us with the manly guns know it's all about the upper body.

<-- one of "those" guys who (on a 3 day lifting spread) spends 2.5 days worth of lifting on upper body and .5 on lower :)

Women like big bicepts because they know that if they shack up with that guy and are too lazy some night to have sex, he'll be more than able to get himself off. Women always think ahead.

Women actually don't like dating bodybuilders b/c they know they're gym rats and won't put in enough time with them. How true this is!

People who have skinny chicken legs will say it's stupid to have large quads b/c they don't have them and are unable or unwilling to work for them. Those of us with the manly legs (& back) know it's all about the lower body.

Yeah if you like having to wear pants 3 sizes to big in the waist just so your legs will fit in them! Of course most of those guys wear shorts year round so they can show off their manly legs;)

Well, I'm not going to say that large quads are stupid, but I think unless you are entering a competition it's pretty pointless to have such massive legs. And I only have a limited time at the gym so for me, lower body gets left off the most (yes I am too lazy to work legs out hard all the time). But I guarentee that women would rather you have an upper body like 50 cent with a lower body like Screech as opposed to a lower body like Arnold and a upper body like Clay Aiken.

Or you could have both and look NORMAL. There is no point of getting 1 muscle group big if you are not going to look proportional.

About as true as a guy who wouldn't pick a fit toned woman because he knows she'll spend less time with him and a portion of that time in the gym. Ie, bullcrap!

I'd rather have a dude that goes to the gym than one who's going to the bar every night.

Exactly. Plus:

Failure to work your lower body can lead to injuries. You use your legs, hips and thighs to support yourself in most of your upper body exercises. If those are left weak and untrained, injuries can result as the difference in strength between your upper and lower body become too great.

Failure to work your legs will hamper your upper body development. Your legs comprise nearly 50% of your muscle mass. Working them causes your body to release far more testosterone.

Failure to work your legs means a much less lean you. Again, your legs comprise nearly 50% of your body's muscle mass. More muscle burns more fat, even at rest.

Not working your legs to the same degree as your upper body is just plain stupid.

Actually, easy fit and loose fit jeans have cured this problem. Most body builders are not forced into jeans that are too big now.

I'm just a girl but I beg to differ with you.Having muscle strength is an excellent thing,it's nice being able to lift/carry large/heavy objects by myself.Muscle burns more calories too so working out means you can eat more:)

What he said. Also, having a strong lower back and legs will help in extracurricular activities that require thrusting, like

skiing. :D

Well, it's showy, I know that, but having large/strong biceps aren't all too important, methinks.

Any opinions?

Besides, triceps are much more useful for knocking a guy the f out. ;)

Let me know when you get huge triceps, useful for knocking a guy out, without getting huge biceps. Also let me know when you increase the muscles of your legs and posterior chain without increase arm size.

your wrong there you would be supprised at the number of hot girls who dont want a man who looks like a model, and woudl rather have one with some meat on their bones

I'm not saying lookin' skinny, but have muscle bulk and abs at the same time. If you have 6 pack abs, the likelihood that you have overall health is pretty high. It's pretty d@mn hard to get the abs for most people so it's a pretty good indication of a person's health. Example: LL Cool J. You wouldn't believe how many hot women thinks he is hot.

Regarding those who mainly workout upper body and just a little bit of legs, you are doing yourself a disservice. A person who balance their workout will have a higher chance of getting a bigger chest than those just doing upper body. Squat is a good recommendation. When you workout and increase the size of your legs, your body produces hormones to develop your upper body (for balance). I've seen too many guys who have chicken legs and moderate or big upper body. Since you're working against the tendencies of your body you have to put so much more time and effort to get that chest vs someone with a balance workout.

They're great cause when me and my buddies are at a party and one of them calls me 'the walking bicep' in front of a group of girls they all start yelling at me to show them. Then I get to act shy and pretend I really dont want to show until they get so into it that I have no choice but to flex for them. This is usually followed by a round of applause

i thought he was asking about those giant dudes that do the strong-man stuff...i mean...that seems a little excessive. it seems obvious that having a decent amount of stregnth and proportional body would be an advantage in most situations.

When I was on the school's tae kwon do team, I don't recall any exercises that would specifically target the biceps. It's the triceps that oppose the biceps - triceps extend the arm, biceps bend the arm back in. Biceps are great for picking things up when you have to bend your arm. But, triceps are far more useful for punching. Although, it's not the size so much as the type of muscle cells - whether it's for speed or for strength. Speed is just as important.
