why are laptop power cords such a drag?

I think this is just some weird psychological thing, and I'm hoping I'm not the only one.

obviously if you're sitting on a couch with your laptop, a power cord is not any obstacle, but for some reason it always SEEMs like one. it's like, just as soon as I pull the power cord out, I feel like I suddenly have all this new freedom...
other types of cords don't really bother me..I guess because they're sort of "coming out" of the machine instead of "going into" it

I get 4 and a half hours out of mine, and I never use it that long in one sitting, so its always charged.

my battery life is absurd.
i have 2 batteries, if i don't have me AC with me I may as well forget it. its only been a year or so since i got it

edit: the only consolation is that i got a great deal at the time and it served the purpose i needed it for. still have it and use it occasionally
