not exactly...

it's like when adam and eve took the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, adam ate a grape from the tree of the knowlege of hotornot, b/c seriosly, men, in general have the same taste in women.

edit it's odd... it's almost like that whole moral law argument

Dude, grapes don't grow on trees.
Adam ate "fruit", no one said what that fruit was, it's fruit, not a grape, not an apple, just fruit.

just think about it.

This is absolutely right.

Media and advertising bombards us into thinking we need to look a certain way, and to look like anything else is unattractive and unappealing.
This explains why there are so many depressed and unhappy people in the world, as they have been brainwashed into thinking they are inadequate and simply average looking.
This also explains why people spend forutunes on cosmetic and plastic surgery.
Then how do you explain this study done with babies? I saw a similar study on the Discovery channel.

Thats actually a negative, but its what the feminists want you to believe. The actual strongest factor in beauty is symmetry. The more symmetrical your face, and whole body is, the more attractive. Symmetry means youre healthy, and have good genes, yada yada, but of course, to us, they just look hot.

Not only that, the more average your face is, the better. Not average in terms of "Meh, shes a 5", average in terms of put everyones face of this gender in a computer and this is what the composite looks like. Of course, the more you average, the more symmetrical everything gets etc.

Of course there are other traits that are just plain attractive, like wide hips/small waist, something to do with childbearing. :p But those are the biggies.

And I dont buy the fat people used to be attractive argument. I know medieval painting all show chubby girls, but that doesnt necessarily imply that that is their idea of beauty. Theyve probably never even seen a woman like jessica alba. :p There could be plenty of reasons for that, only one being that that was the standard of attractiveness. Unless theres actual medieval literature out there (very well could be), that specifically talks about how they love the fatties, I dont buy it.

Plenty of studies to back all of this up, google away.

another thing, it is very consistent accross the board! there are some minor differences in opinion, but all in all, a hot chick is a hot chick, by any mans standards... Where do these standards come from?!

hundreds of millions of years of evolution give you a brain and a body that responds to visual sexual stimuli in a predictable way I guess...

human nature! beauty still lies in the eye of the beholder.
Female body is naturally attractive,
you find it common for a girl to look at another and find them just as attractive.

I've always wondered what I'd think of Rosie O'donnel if I was a lone hermit in the wilderness and she came wondering into my neck of the woods. Would I be ravenously attracted to her?

Beauty is partially defined by society but each man has tastes that make different qualities desireable to us. Still, it is part of how we're wired. Need to propagate the species and that sort of thing.

My DNA has an inherent need to propogate with Kelly Clarkson. I'm not quite so sure why that is.

Symmetry is why anyone looks attractive. Beyond that, placement of facial features has influence.

You know why women have a vagina?
So men will talk to them.

In nature almost everything are perfect symmetry, either rotational symmetry or geometrical symmetry. It's true that symmetry is a requirement for being "hot". However, most people are symmetry yet they don't necessary be considered "hot". There are external influences such as body build, dimension. For example, a fat women might have a symmetrical pretty face but there will be people disgusted by the fit factor. A women might look pretty yet she's too tall. While I agree symmetry (not only physical) is an important factor; it is not the only factor and not necessarily be the most important.

As I mentioned before, influences from cultural views, or model set by mass media, is just as important.

because MTV/Fashion people told you they were hot and that information was passed along to you from your own generation and on and on.

Because girls are basically the other half of me.

They smell good, I smell like old sofas, they look good all curvy and soft, I'm all lookin like the alien from Mac and Me, they cook great, I just eat the stuff that collects on the bottom of the fridge with a spoon so I don't have to cook, and they're naturally penis compatible.

But the media gives us what we want, not vice versa. Sure, it builds upon itself, but there isnt some media conspiracy to change the way we find women attractive. If all of a sudden, every woman on TV was a fattie, that isnt going to make everyone run out and start chubby chasing. At least not most of us. :p

Symmetry and geometry are by far the most important factors. Media influence can only serve to strengthen that, by cherry picking the most ridiculously perfect specimens, and raising the bar for every woman (and man) likewise.
