what was the war about again? Why is gas still $2+ a gallon in my area?
doesn't take me more than $20 to fill up my tank, but if/when I get a new car I'm sure it'll cost me $40-$60 a fill up!

#end rant
/laughs manically

<-- had predicted before the war that going to Iraq would raise the price of gas, not lower it like so many thought then (feel free to search)

that's great and all but at least I thought it would stablize... heck it's just sad now when I'm happy I find a gas station that sells REGULAR gas for $1.99!

My parents and uncles have a fixed rate for the heating charges, sure some years its above the variable, but they don't have to worry about next year and the year after. They save money (marginal however) but its less of a headache.

Many utility companies around here do not offer "averaged" billing. Three years ago we had one of the coldest winters in decades and it just so happended that natural gas & heating oil prices went sky high for whatever reasons. We had over two weeks straight of below zero temperatures and very nasty winds. There were many people that couldn't afford the bills and there were lots of fundraising events and charities performed to help people pay their heating costs.

It was pretty bad.
How sweet to live in Alabama where when it's "Freezing outside" it's like 35 or so :)

Heating with gas seems that at times it can cost insane amounts of money. We have gas only for our fireplace and as an emergency backup when the temp outside gest too cold for the main system to work (switchover occurs around freezing point).

I'm not worried - I get 35mpg in my vehicle. :) Hopefully my next vehicle will be a hybrid (either a civic, or an Insight)

"Why are gas prices still so high? Didn't we win?"

I busted out laughing when saw this.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gas will be $3 in your area within a few days and back to $2 and change in place that dipped below $1.50 like here in Georgia. Yesterday it had gone down to $1.26 at a local RaceTrack Gas Station, they already raised the price to $1.49 on today's news of OPEC cutting back Oil and Oil prices skyrocketing on the Stock market. I'm sure they will change the prices at the pump overnight to at least $169 by tomorrow morning.

Then where's the oil at if you're so certain that it was about oil?

Hmmm, I believe Bush when he says that this war had nothing to do with the oil. Regardless of if they had no oil at all, i would still think this war was necessary and if gas prices arn't going down, why? MAYBE BECAUSE WE'RE NOT TAKING THEIR OIL!

People are so quick to jump to conclusions, and now that they've been proved wrong, they still can't let go.

what really pisses me off is that gas stations raise their prices a few cents every night EVEN THOUGH THEY ONLY GET GAS FROM THE BIG TRUCKS ONCE A WEEK!!!!

is there some sort of retarted payment plan that i dont know of or do they just do it to make money?

it seems they should only be able to change the price after they recieve a shipment from the distributors.

$500-$600 Whoa! What kind of fuel do they burn? Last year my highest bill was $300. I keep it warm and I have a gas fireplace. I'm not going to complain about my heating bill ever again.

my heating bill is... wait.. I'm in southern California.. come on people... move back to cali... there are jobs here! :D

It's gone down in my home town from the 1.80's to the 1.60's, but that might have just been the passing of Memorial day.

your SUVs dont run on milk. moomobile?

today, OPEC decided to cut production by 900k barrels a day causing oil to spike 4.7%. our local oil monopolies will use it as an excused to raise prices by more than 4.7% effective last week...

well atleast the suv drivers will be eating it. oh wait they already have too much money anyway

if everybody drove those new electric-gas hybrids instead of SUVs and normal cars we would have no foreign dependence on oil at all. that must be why there is upto $4k tax credit for buying those types of cars. but then we'd have to recycle all our old cars and...

Thanks for helping to prove that the war was not about oil, just like some of us have said from the beginning. If it was about oil our gas prices would have gone down. Have they gone down? No you say? Well there you go, now everyone can throw away their shirts and rip off the bumper stickers that say "No blood for oil". Fricken hippies anyway ;)
