Why are DVI switches so expensive?

I can't find one for under $300. I'd like to hook up two computers with DVI out to my Dell 2005fpw monitor, which only has one DVI input. Any cheap solutions out there? I'm just going to manually swap the connector until I find something cheaper lol.

I dont know how bad it would look, but maybe use the VGA port and cable, then use one of those VGA to DVI adaptors (My video card came with two of them). I cant tell how bad or good the quality would be tho...

I gave up on finding a cheap DVI kvm for my 2005FPW, so I just ended up using the VGA port along with the DVI port. For me, the decrease in quality was not noticable. Now the problem with this is switching the keyboard and mouse between computers. I just manually swap the USB cables, but you could get a cheap VGA KVM and use that as a keyboard/mouse switch.

Googling "DVI KVM switch" comes up with this as the first hit at $92. There are quite a few more here as well, many well under $300. Not sure where you're looking...
