Sick doesn't have to do with people being clean. That is an excuse slobs use. What the problem is are the people that use chemicals on everything and then don't socialize at all. They keep their kids home and inside so they never build up immunity. At the same time they are using disinfectants on everything, antibiotics for the simpliest colds, getting every type of flu shot, etc.

Not being sick ever is more or less either one that has a great immune system or socializes alot/very little.

That's what I meant by "obsessively clean environment", not that I don't wash my hands or vacuum the floor. Clean is good. Sterile is bad, unless you're in a hospital. You want enough germs to keep your immune system entertained, without having so many that it gets overwhelmed. That means keeping a clean house, but not using bleach everywhere and refusing to let your kids play outside.

Because they don't watch their hands properly and they touch their face/ears. I worked in a lab with a lot of live samples and I was grilled constantly about this. I haven't been sick since I started putting these ideas into practice about 4 years ago and the only major lifestyle change since then has been moving from the suburbs to a really dirty part of Boston.

uite [sic] possible, but I don't see why they could not do it once every six months or so...

I guarantee you they're not required to do it. I can't exactly imagine they're going to go so far out of the way to gain brownie points in such a crap job. Is it really so hard to clean up your the mess you created in the area you're responsible for?
