Why are the Democrats changing the locks on Senate doors?

Republicans charged that Towns canceled the meeting to avoid the subpoena vote. Democrats first claimed the mark-up was canceled due to a conflict with the Financial Services Committee. Later they said it was abandoned after a disagreement among Democratic members on whether to subpoena records on the mortgage industry?s political contributions to Republicans.

A GOP committee staffer captured video of Democrats leaving their separate meeting in private chambers after the mark-up was supposed to have begun. He spliced the video to other footage of the Democrats? empty chairs at the hearing room, set it to the tune of ?Hit the Road, Jack? and posted it on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee?s minority webpage, where it remained as of press time.

Towns?s staffers told Republicans they were not happy about the presence of the video camera in the hearing room when they were not present. Issa?s spokesman said the Democrats readily acknowledged to Republicans that they changed the locks in retaliation to the videotape of the Democrats? absence from the business meeting even though committee rules allow meetings to be taped

I wish I could just leave if I didn't feel like doing my job. Life would be great! I think this sort of crap happens no matter what side of the isle someone is on though.

Maybe you'll post the whole article next time, including the part where when Republicans had control and used an infantile tactic to override a Dem effort to read a 90 page piece of legislation before voting on it, and then called the police to escort the Democrats out of the library.

I swear that entire place is a daycare center.

Obviously you didn't read it. Might want to re read the part about the library, but that is neither here nor there as this is 2009 not 2003.

The Democrats complained they didn't have time to read the legislation, but then had a staffer read it out loud AND THE DEMOCRATS LEFT THE ROOM. Hmmm.

Being in the Minority in the House has to be the most frustrating possible experience to endure. I loved it when Henry Waxman was the ranking member of the Government Oversight Committee he was like a giant gnat... Now Issa is the ranking minority member - a rather junior house member - playing the role of giant gnat.
I agree the House is like a day care center but the Senate is not at all like that. In the Senate there is usually a lot of comity. The House tries to emulate the Senate at times but their version of Comity is Comedy.

Its like watching children fight.
"He did it first!" "No he did!"

And to think these people are the ones that make decisions affecting the country. Worse still, so many in this country support these people.

We are a country of fools in a parade of tragedies.
