Weak rearend. And cost a lot to replace.

its not the rear end that is weak, its the mounting for it

there was a recall on the 04-05, and the kits to bolster the rear diff to prevent the issue are relatively inexpensive as far as I can tell.

parts are pretty cheap, as its alot of stock CTS and vette stuff.

I was drooling over how cheap 2000+ M5's have gotten, but jeez, the CTS is a little more, but with lower miles and way cheaper maintenace and better MPG it seems like an easy choice

09 also got a massively upgraded interior, previous model felt fairly cheap but obviously will be better than whats in the Subaru.

QFT....2009 everyone agrees was the first year the full CTS-V 'concept' was fully in place.

The thing I hate about the car (outside the price would be high for me to bite off each month) is it doesn't sound like a 'tough car'. It's sort of unbelieveable the way it responds, but is so tame sounding.

Personally, it feels slow because of this...

We just had a 2011 CTS-V Coupe in the shop for an exhaust, pulley, ported TB, tune and some other stuff. It made just shy of 600rwhp when it was done, that thing was awesome.

The LS engines don't really have my favorite sound...I grew up with small block fords and like that sound better. The Dodge SRT8 I am seriously looking at too has one of the nicer sounds I have heard in a long time.

Back when I was at GM, I had just left the group at Milford that works on current vehicle problems when the CTS diff issue came to light.

I remember going back to visit with them and hearing about it - one of my friends had a diff with a pancake size hole blown out the side sitting on his desk. They had figured out exactly what to do to break them. The good news is that when we figured out how to consistently break something we quickly figured out how to fix it.
