Why are computer system manufactures being greedy with the AMD systems?

Week after week I look in the paper and I see the prebuilt systems @ BestBuy and Crooked-City from the likes of HP, Campaq, and others.

Why on earth are the Duron/Athlon systems more expensive than the Cel/P3 systems with similar speeds and specs. I know the Athlon stuff is cheaper, why arent they passing the price breaks on to thier customers?

Sorry had to vent, I would love to see AMD put preasure on Intel in the "average user" deptment, not just the enthusist group. What going on?

One reason may be that people who usually use AMD systems are lots of the time people that build their own system. And maybe by jacking the price they can make up for lost sales. Also by jacking the price to the same as the intel the average joe shmo will think it's just as good (because the more expensive it is, the better it is right? (not knowing that it really is as good/if not better) )

if they sold each system based on how much they cost them, ppl would by more duron/athlon... leaving them w/ extra intel inventory... escess inventory is bad/expensive... if they price them similarly, they sell at similar rates... also, if they are selling too many AMD boxes, there is pressure to sell the existing intel boxes because the longer they go w/out selling the more they depreciate...
