Why are Chinese people always clearing their throats?

What do you expect her to do?

I'll take "Not Do It At All for $1,000, Alex!" If I was lucky enough to hit the Daily Double, it would most likely be wanting her to do that nastiness in the bathroom instead of out in the open when all of her co-workers can hear her.

This reminds me of that blond girl in college making that video about Chinese people being loud. You should also make a video.

And yes the older generation loves to spit on the street for some reason.

Well, they're learning from their parents/grandparents. I even had a Chinese girl who I was tutoring fart in a packed math study room. Then she looked at me for approval. I was shocked. Again, everyone pretended it didn't happen.

Fair point. I don't know why I didn't consider that.

EDIT: Then again, if she constantly has mucous buildup, taking too many restroom breaks could get her in trouble.

Our management is fairly lenient with the restroom breaks--the worst part is when she does this while she's on the phone with clients--or when you're eating lunch at your cubicle and that's all you can hear. It's just disgusting. She's been spoken to about it before, too. Oh well--I am sure every workplace has someone annoying! :whiste:

I've seen korean cigarette smokers constantly clearing their throat, spitting and hacking up phlegm but I've seen the most frequent display of this from freshly immigrated chinese people. Westernized/modernized immigrants seem to never spit etc. I'm thinking cultural/hygiene differences.

My university had Koreans coughing and clearing their throats. Fucking annoying.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that's noticed this. The South Koreans at several firms i've worked at have been disgusting. The noises emanating from the toilets would reverberate throughout the building. It sounds like they're trying to give birth to a baby via their esophagus by snorting, grunting and spitting for five minutes at a time.
