why are cars in australia so damn cool?

Maybe they have lower emissions standards there? I don't know, but the more I hear about Australia, the more I like it.

the US seems to have really strict emissions laws. still, a V8 doesn't really put out much more of the things they test for (theres LEV V8s iirc), and don't really get worse mileage than the high-strung V6s

I was just in Australia a week ago and I don't remember being incredibly impressed by their cars. I'm not a huge car enthusiast, but I think I would have noticed if they were that much better.

Well, most regular large cars are V6. Pay a little more and get a V8, but they are not that common.

maybe so, but at least they look cooler and have the option for it, unlike, say, the impala or the taurus
