*SOLD*

I put it in the paper and had four calls the second day. One guy was really interested, came out, gave a deposit, and picked it up yesterday. He was perfectly painless. The other people who called showed no indication of being any more worthy of air than the seven clowns I have mentioned in this thread. Oh yeah, I got it for $5500 ($5400 after listing fees and filling the tank up). I paid $6k for it just over a year ago, so I think I did well.
--

It's no wonder so many people trade vehicles in. I've had five calls this week for my maxima. Here is how the people were so far:

1) Prick Dick #1, who sounded mentally retarded and drunk, organized to test drive the car with me that evening. We had a specific time. He would call me back or I'd call him, but in any case I called him. No response. I blew 25 minutes going to pick my car up from crapmart to bring it to where I live (close to him).

2) Morons #2. I waste 20 minutes for this idiotic couple to "check out the car", which consisted of them looking at it (which they could have done at walmart without opening it) and me turning the engine on. The idiot guy didn't want to drive it before sorting out financing. Thanks, dick, for wasting my time you piece of horse garbage.

3) Retard #3. "Hey man the car is just what I'm looking for, but I need to sell my S10 first. Are you interested in a trade?" Well, what the hell did he think? NO.

4) Bitch #4. She is interested in the car but needs to sell her 2004 focus first. In the meantime can she check the car out? Of course not. I told her to frig off until it's sold and essentially not waste my time. I hope she never calls back.

5) Person #5. This guy is supposed to check the car out tomorrow and so far, on the phone, sounds normal. He'll probably turn out to be a useless idiot like most other people. Maybe not though. He did sound reasonable. UPDATE: He never called back.

6) Teenager #6. So this guy just called. My car's asking price is $5500. He asked if I'd take $4k in cash. Idiot. I told him I already had an offer for $4700, dumbass. He "had to talk to my dad". Yeah, you go do that!

7) Blind person #7. I got a call yesterday. I thought I'd sell both cars and see which one sells first (97 or 00). This guy calls up and says "I see they were 5 speeds, but are they automatics?" Firstly, I don't know about a 5th gen, but a 4th gen's auto definitely was a four speed. Secondly, if somebody says "5 speed" you should assume it's a manual. Thirdly THERE WAS A PICTURE OF THE INTERIOR, YOU FREAKING IMBECILE.

At least I'm not selling a car in the $1200 price range, which brings up a whole other separate bag of worms, including people offering insane prices like $600 and dolts asking if they can give you payments for it. They really are the bottom of the barrel.

Hey, you never told me you were selling your car. Mind if I give it a test drive? I live in Chicago, so if you could just meet me somewhere halfway....

How do you make it through a day without killing someone? Honestly, I've never seen a person rant so much about such inconsequential details.

When I sold my wife's BMW I had this guy come over to look at it early one morning. I started the car up and drove it around the block before he got there and he got all defensive asking me why I did that, like I was trying to hide something. Fvckwad, I just wanted to warm it up for you. Idiot. He ended up buying anyway though.

I once had someone offer me $2000 for a car worth 4 times that, and it wasn't even for sale. Then he got annoyed when I told him no.

I'm really not sure. I guess I just hate people but I'm not a violent person, so it all works out.

I had a neighbor try to offer me payments on my truck.

He was perpetually unemployed, constantly broke, & actually tried to borrow money from me on one occasion.

Payments?

Hahahahahahaha...

Right.

This is what happens when you advertise your car in a wal-mart parkinglot.

Plus idiots think that if they specify CASH it will be more attractive, like I was otherwise expecting to be paid in rabbit feet.

Nonsense, it would happen anyway. I've sold a car not at walmart and had the exact same kind of sh*t. The worst is when people claim they can drive a stick shift and you can tell they spent 15 minutes driving one 10 years ago and they all but destroy the clutch for you.

I'll give you $1000 and a used Schwinn 10-speed. Can I arrange a test drive? How does 2 a.m. in Hoboken sound?

1. there is a COLOR picture in the ad.
2. miles are listed

This happend to some people I know...

They were selling the family minivan. Put an add in the paper. Some "slow" sounding people called about 7pm and wanted to see the car. The guy told them to come on over, but they told him that they didn't have any way to get there. He agreed to drive the van to them.

He showed up to their house and they indeed were "slow". The man and woman wanted him to show them how it rode, so they got in the van and asked he started driving around the neighborhood. They were sort of close to a walmart, so the woman asked him if he would wait while she went inside to get something. Being the nice guy he is, he said ok. After about 20 minutes of sitting in the van with the husband, the husband decides that he will go see what is taking so long. He gets out of the car and goes in the Walmart. About 15 more minutes go by and neither of them have come back outside. So after 35 minutes of sitting in the Walmart parking lot, he finally decides that he is just going to leave. As soon as he starts backing out, the people come running outside waiving for him to stop. He actually stoped and let them in the van and starts driving back to their place.

When he gets back to their place, they say that they want the van, but they have to wait for their checks to get there. He tells them that he will have to have a deposit if they want him to hold the van for them. The woman looks in her purse and says, "Will five dollars be enough?"
