Being from Vancouver, the nightly weather report on the news is about 30 seconds to a minute. Here in Philly, they make a really big deal about the weather. They have a little report up front, and then have us "stay tuned for the full report" later. It's pretty ridiculous. I see alot of weather threads here too. What's up with this obsession?

hmmm being from philly, and now living in toronto.. the weather reports are similiar.. always a brief up front report.. and then a stay tuned.

there's really more to it though. Here, news stations actually have a full blown "weather team" and they get advertised as such. it also seems to be a much bigger production. Maybe Van just has a low key approach to the weather that I had become used to.

It is Vancouver...what else is there to report? Its either light snow or heavy snow🙂

During this time of year, i luv living in Southern Cali:heart:

on the east coast there is a lot of weather reports, but in LA there is almost none, unless it starts drizzling then its the top story, luckily that doesnt happen much

In LA they pretty much gloss over it most of the year:

"And now, the weather."
"Thanks, Tom. We'll have clear skies the rest of the week, 75 degrees will be the high tomorrow, with things cooling off in the evenings and a low of 60. Back to you."

However, if rain is anywhere NEAR the state:

"In other news, a toddler was gunned dow--"
"BREAKING NEWS FROM THE DOPPLER 2000 WEATHER STATION. The Southland is on HEAVY STORM ALERT. San Bernadino residents are being put on mudslide alert and some are being evacuated from the area. We can expect torrential downpours of up to ONE-HALF INCH. We are live on scene in Temecula where people are putting up sandbags to combat the storm."

you must be an american or an american wannabe cause if you were canadian, you would be in favour of my opinions, since it is clear that americans have a terrible sence of humer, or example, does anybody actually think that bob sagit on americas funniest home videos is funny...NO..only americans, americans seem to think that acting like a dumbass is comedy, and there can only be 1 reason for this......c'mon i know you can figure it out...no?..ok i'll tell you, cause you ARE dumbasses

Oh, and FrOsTxxbYtE take a chill pill. Obviously your 13 year old brain isn't fully developed enough to appreciate Roger's dry humor, but no need to throw a tantrum aboot it. Don't you have some logging and moose hunting to go attend to, you hoser?

FrOsTxxbYtE, you are too funny, extremely poor grammar, lousy sense of humor and the slightest little thing sets you off.

In related news; an intoxicated hamster tapdancing on a keyboard in Nebraska created a post slightly more coherent than your latest. Film at eleven.

The spelling, grammar, and logic titles are still apparently firmly in the grasp of us Yanks it would seem.

Don't forget. He also misspelled "humor." This is obviously due to the poor public education system in Canada.

LOL! I remember seeing a bunch of frantic weather coverage when I was out in LA one time when they were expecting rain. We were out there for 3 weeks and just like you said, most of the time they glossed right over it because there was nothing to report. But there was the potential for a rain system to be moving ashore and they were getting all jazzed up about it (I think it ended up being just a mild shower over half the viewing area.) Being from the South I thought it was funny to see how different regions react to different weather. We do the same thing down here with snow.

Yeh but in caifornia with the trees gone in some areas and the ground covered with ash it wouldn't take much for a mudslide.

Beats me, but I seem to have an obsession with time. Thank God for the Atomic clock, I have four in my house, and synchronize my watches and car's radio clock plus all the clocks around me at work. I find it to be a nice luxury. I don't have a big obsession with the weather channel, mostly because ther are always wrong. When they tell you it will be a sunny day and above 40 degress and it ends up snowing a foot of snow and is -15 below you begin to lose trust.
