well yes but I would be perfectly happy with a 60hz monitor that performed like the old Dell S2409 or Acer H233H.If you want a proper gaming monitor, get 120hz.

are you kidding? if you turn on vsync it will not improve screen response and if anything will make it more jittery if you are not maintaining a high framerate.
thanks I will add it to my list to check out. I am getting a bit nervous having to do returns to BB. they get your drivers license number and document every return even if you pay with cash. they do this even with exchanges too or even unopened products which seems a bit odd. I have returned returned about 5 or 6 things there this year so I am scared one day they are going to cut me off. lolhttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+IPS...&skuId=2031077
LG - IPS Series 23" LED Monitor
Model: IPS236V| SKU: 2031077
I got it on sale for 199. Looks to be on sale again for 229.
So far played LFD2, Battlefield Bad Company2, Everquest, The Withcer 2, movies. Love the monitor. It is head and shoulders above my older Asus 24" (sorry do not have the model # on me).
for those that do not know, my Acer H233H had stared flickering and crapping out on me so I had to trash it. it was fine for games and I never noticed jittering or blurriness when looking around in games. it had a 5ms rating which was nothing special.
I have now tried 6 new monitors and every one of them have ranged from bad to really bad for actual screen response. some of them have been almost disorienting when looking around fast. even just small panning around in the games will make a little jitter. every one of those have been 5ms or faster. and yes i know specs can be misleading but why are they all worse than my 3 year old Acer that was just mainstream monitor?
well today I decide to dust off the old Dell S2409 that I also had just to see how it is. I will be damned if it does not have hardly any problems at all being smooth in gaming. in fact its like a 120hz compared to the new garbage I have been trying out for months.
now please tell me how two 3 year old mainstream monitors with 5ms completely blow away anything new with a 5ms or better rating? it is not even close as the S2409 and H233H are excellent while the newer monitors make me want to throw up in fast movements and aggravate the crap out of me even when looking around.
I know full well what tearing is. I am ONLY referring to the jittering that would only be associated with screen response. turning on vsync fixes none of that and even makes the jitter stand out.Ghosting and blurring differences are hardly noticeable between most modern monitors 5ms and below. If they are all 60HZ there should be no difference in smoothness. If you don't vsync your games 70fps or 45fps on a 60Hz screen will have some jitter compared than 60fps due to the fact that the frames don't line up nicely. What you are seeing is probably this plus the effects of tearing. Make sure you are testing at the same spot in games and getting the same frame rate before passing judgement on the monitors.
If you find the Dell so satisfactory, why do you need to get another 60Hz TN panel?
are any monitors fully LED backlit? the reason i like it because aside from one Samsung there was basically zero back light bleed on the LED backlit monitors. they also immediately resume and do not have to warm up.And again I said budget LED monitor. I wasn't talking about traditional ccfl backlit ones.
see my last post on why I want that though.Lets see. All the monitors you tested are 60HZ, TN and good response times.
The ones you like are the ones you have and are CCFL backlit. The ones that are terrible for you are LED backlit. I know being LED backlit probably have nothing to do with screen response but from it looks like LED monitors are not for you?
LED backlighting itself doesn't have a direct impact on screen response. And yea I do appreciate the benefits of LED backlit monitors (I use one at work) but at the moment I'm not aware of any that are really worth using from a gaming stand-point.

Based on Xbitlabs' article, it seems LED's main advantage is power consumption. It doesn't seem to improve image quality or response time or viewing angles or black levels per say.
as usual around here, everything as to be repeated over and over.![]()
well you know we are going to go back and forth sometimes. you have your experiences and I have mine. now dont crap in my thread. That's exactly how I feel when you try to challenge or call me out when I post benchmarks or personal experiences when playing games!![]()
yeah but of the 6 or 7 I have used with it, there was almost no back light bleeding. screen was pretty much uniform where as every non led TN monitor I have seen has backlight bleed on the very top and bottom. plus i love the no warm up time so I really want LED backlit monitor if possible.toyota, I heard good things about this Acer GD235HZbid monitor:

Walmart sells it. I think they don't have a restocking fee for returns.
If you stretch your budget a bit, you can treat yourself to this nice 27 inch Acer.
You seem to be correct!
