I'm a Korean American and I grew up in Lawrenceville, GA. I didn't grow up with a lot of asian friends. all my friends growing up were anglo americans or afro americans.

My opinion is based on my experience, and my experience tells me that Afro americans are more predjudiced against Asian Americans than Other ethnic americans or Anglo americans.

what gives them the right??

HOW hypocritical is that??

OK here is the latest experience.

My wife was in a very minor fender bender in a parking lot. the other driver an afro american gets out is all yelling and screaming, wants to call the cops, etc etc etc.

so i called the cops.

cops arrive on the scene, takes my wifes info, then goes to the other guy, GUESS WHAT. MORON ISN'T INSURED. OMFG, What a COMPLETE MORON.

About every 20 years they come up with a new name they want to go buy and if you do not instantly stay in line you are labeled racists.

It's the way they are raised by their parents. The black leaders spout bullcrap to keep themselves in business.

You rarely see any other group vote by color as their primary qualification for public office.

Oh, but you see, we've done it again! Judged the whole black race for the actions of a few!

thats as good as my ride along with the cops yesterday. The cops wanted to know the guys name so he could drive the car they pulled over (lady that was driving had a suspended license) amd he LIED to them. 4 hours later, they find out his real name...no warrents or anything, he lied for no reason. Got charged with obstruction of justice.

:)=Joke

Regardless, I don't see how your example makes them predjudiced against Asians. I think it makes the guy who wanted to call the cops and didn't have insurance dumber than grass, but how did he prejudge you based on your race because of that?

I think you're generalizing an entire people based on your experiences in Lawrenceville, GA, and that's not any better than what you're accusing these "Afro Americans" of doing.

your right on a couple of levels and i never said i wasn't generalizing. the story i posted was kind of irrelevant, i just happened to get the call from my wife w/ regards to the results of what happened as i was posting on a slightly different issue.

the reason why i say what i did is: if it had been two "brothers" that had had the minor scrape they would have just swapped info and left it at that. that's what i did with another individual that rear ended us recently and the insurance companies took care of it. over.

but he basically was making wayy to big a deal about it, was making comments about how bad asian drivers were etc, was yelling at my wife, just overall bad behavior.

that's what made the conclusion even soo much sweeter. I hope my insurance company chooses not to cover their damages, because if he wasn't insured HE SHOULDN'T BE COVERED BY MY INSURANCE.

Well... I am from Germany and that gives me a new/different angle with issues sometimes.
I work with black and asian coworkers and had never had any problems.

However... in all honesty the people that been the most rude, unprofeshinal and unfriendly have been black.
I have a mnessage for you... if you are my waitress or my waiter. I do not care how you look, what color you are or what your age is. Be friendly, bring me what I order and refill my drink without me trying to find you. Your tip will be good. However, you lack in any of these.... I am no beliver in a mercy tip, I will walk away setteling my bill and that's that.
And as far as busnisses go that don't have me tip... I have a couple that will not get any business fro me ever again. I am driving almost double the miles for my Motorcycle service out of that reason. You only tread me once like I need you!

I think this situation is sort of like what hispanics face. WE aren't really hated but if anything, completely disregarded and left as lazy fools.

All i can say is deal with it. EIther that or you go on a racial crusade and therefore invalidate any dreams you had for your future.

Mnay people suffer this, including myself, but I don't either dwell on it or ignore it. I think about it calmly and realize the truth behind the matter:

"Those were F-ing Dumbassas ...not racists!!!"

Well, if he was spouting off racist remarks about Asians, then the story makes more sense, but I still say that judging all people of one race based on the reaction of some to your race doesn't make you any better than you say they are.

I'm originally from Miami, Fl. I'm half Cuban, but I don't speak spanish and I don't really look Cuban. I'd get lots of crap from a lot of people because I didn't speak spanish. Most of the time it was older people but sometimes it was from people my own age and even younger. They would make you feel like you were the bad person for not speaking their language. While I hated running into these people, for me to say that all hispanics in Miami are like that would be crazy. Mainly, because I have a lot of extended family there and they have no problems with people who don't speak spanish.

Sometimes you have to give people the benefit of the doubt and not judge them on their worst specimen.

I dont' dwell on it.

but certain incidents bring it to mind. I don't like seeing my wife have to face this kind of Crap. also, if i had been there, i can gurantee you he would have been calm. so it was racists and sexists, but overall i agree with you , he wasn't a racist so much as he was a dumbass.

I don't know what Lawrencevill, GA, is like outside of this issue, but if it's truly a problem, then maybe it would be a good idea to move to some place where you'd feel more comfortable.

you use generalizing as if it is a bad word, but there is another word for generalizing and it's called categorization.

it is impossible to live and learn w/o some sort of categorization.

categorizing itself isn't bad. it's when you take this categorizing and take bad actions (hate crimes, kkk crosses etc) that you can say is bad. but the act of categorizing or generalizing itself is not bad.

it's necessary. and i choose to make generalizations of people. they have the right to try and prove me wrong if the so feel, but it happens.

PlatinumGold: i agree with ur original post. but i also think it depends where ppl come from. ppl from the ghetto, no matter what race... are always intolerant of asians.

Not all of them are. I'd say most are not, except the ignorant. And ignorance is not a racial trait.

I'm not saying it's bad to generalize. I do it myself, but I guess it seems like you're extremely aggrivated by this situation.

It also seems that you're prejudging people based on their color because of it, though. Like if you were to meet a black man tomorrow, you'd automatically think he's got something against you because your Asian. That's the part I don't think is right. If I'm wrong, then that's fine. It's just what I've gathered from your posts here.

Black people are cool. Asian people are annoying, always bitching about thier parents, thier familes, black people, etc.

I have no problems w/ Asian people, I'm just "categorizing".

Actually, I could make lots of racial generalizations, but I don't feel like it.

when you meet someone, do you honestly believe that you never "prejudge"??

omg, there are soo many levels on which we prejudge. color of skin is just one aspect of this prejudging. what about the way the person stands, the type of hairstyle, the clothes they wear, the car they drive. our subconscious takes all of these into consideration and comes out with a summary report. WHAT DO YOU THINK FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE??
