1gig ram, 160gig hd.

Best buy and amazon have them for $229.

This all started this weekend. Black Friday is next weekend.

so what gives? Why 20%+ drops in price all of a sudden?

and how long do you estimate 1366×768 netbooks will drop to $200 range? (Buy.com has one for $260, but only 1.33ghz and refurb)

It's called the market. When folks all prefer a larger screen, then in order to sell smaller ones, the price drops.

Early holiday competition? I heard WalMart was going after some of BB's business. Maybe Target is too? Either way it's good for the consumer.

They are trying to dump inventory because 'super' netbooks based off the Intel ULV C2S chips and AMD's Neo are entering the market. These models offer much more performance than the Atom based netbooks at a comparable price.

Might also have to do with Pineview, which is supposed to be available January 2010. Should offer much better battery life (or similar battery life using smaller/cheaper batteries) than netbooks based off Atom and the 945GSE.

$199 is nice, though. I think I paid like $300+ for my Mini 9 a while back.

they had to drop the price because the netbooks are not selling well...
