Anyone here remember how they felt about the USA? It used to be good. Pride. there where reasons. The Constitution, bill of rights, the fact that everyone is equal. Civil rights movements. Environmental laws. Sep from church and state. These are all things that made the USA the best in the world. I thought. I can reealy add to this but ive gotto go work. Add to this if you feel free. Im curious to here the NUTBAGS who still feel the USA is the best country in the world and why. Ive lost friends over thsi christian right thing. I have realised they are communists and want me to be put into an oven. They are the same people who would turn the Jew neighboor in in Germany WW2. that is an American today. that is a christian today. I get a whole new meaning from that book. I dont subscribe to this BS.

Things went pretty downhill after the conservatives popped Bobby Kennedy IMO.
Media no longer a check and balance for the goverment after vietnam, tricky dick, yuppies and raygun. Then the cultural wasteland of the 1990s, foxnews.
Mainstream conservative racism, sexism and scapegoating of the poor.
Voter fraud war and twisting of history for conservative agenda.
What next revoloution or someone having to step in to stop the direction these nutcases are taking it.
America is done as far as the old values.
Now just a breeding ground of hate and ignorance.
The sign of a desperate dying culture. We are eating our own now while leveling a jealous greedy eye to the world.

LOL, I love it when people trash the US & don't do jack sh1t about it.

Posts like this make me wish I'd invested in Lilly when Prozac first came out.

Oh, you mena the brain washing everyone gets in high school compared to what you learn by being an American when you have to support yourself?

The American school system is idealistic when it comes to history/law. The truth is if history classs taught hte truth, we would have had a second civil war by now.

Best is an over statement. better then most other nation, richer, yes but not the best imo. we are forgetting south america, central america, canada, australia, and europe that they may enjoy more freedom then we have here in the states. this country has become so corrupt since the 60' that I no longer want to be a part of it. people who say this country is the best do not even know why they said that, only because they heard others say "it is the best"
Their definition is so vague that it's silly in itself. I mean come on, ignorance is so rampant in America that it's not even funny anymore.

Is education how you would define the best country? If so, we have just about the most educated people as well. Diversity - that's what makes us great. 😀

The term ?best? is very subjective. It all depends on what kind of government, social, and economic mix you are looking for.

Out of the places I have traveled (Central America and Europe) to I prefer to live in the states, with the possible exception of a couple Caribbean islands. I have the advantage of great economic freedom that a large chunk of the world does not have access to. The social freedoms that are my right are also more than adequate in my view and sufficiently protected by the nation?s highest law: The US constitution. Yes, the government is a mess as is the case with every government throughout history. All large scale government by its very nature is inefficient at best and I can live with that.

Hell, we must be doing something right if so many people want to immigrate.

I also like a nation that trusts me to possess something more ?dangerous? than a sharp stick.🙂

I had a history teacher who quoted a writer whose name I can't remember that said America is more a stew than a melting pot. We have diversity alright, but it's not being taken advantage of. Instead, it's used to divide us.

The truly nutty are those who think that the US went from a utopia to a hellhole in five years. Get real. Of all the countries I've been to the US is in the top two to live in, under a heated struggle with Canada, though you can see where I'm living now. Every country has crap.

Since I've never lived in Canada I am not qualified to say that America is better. You on the other hand have first hand knowledge of both countries so you opinion has more validity regarding this subject, at least where it concerns Canada and the US, than me or others who have not spent anytime abroad.

Would you say the same if I went back to Canada and wrote essays on how crappy the US is? 😀

one thing that's changed is leaders used to tell us we could do better. Now too many leaders get their jobs by telling us how great we are.

Well I would take into account that you lived in Alabama🙂

Nope...although I do own several guns.

However, I do not go to church. I possess a Master's Degree in political science. I work for a defense contractor.

So ya, sorry to blow the stereotype man. 🙁
