Why America is 'hated'...a one reason among many..

Let me expand my thoughts.

If you bozos are going to judge America based on our entertainment, we'll do the same.

I choose to think all Brits are like Monty Python and Absolutely Fabulous... a bunch of self absorbed twits.

Who gives a flying f'ck if it's accurate?

Probably because they're afraid of us taking over Castle Greyskull and the rest of Eternia. 🙂

<< I expected this from someone with such a patriotic sig, my original post wasn't meant for people like you. >>

Jesus. If you are going to hide in a corner like a coward when faced with a real opposing viewpoint then this isn't the forum for you.
>>

LOL!

Maybe he should have stated in his title "not for people with patriotic sigs" Or "please don't disargee with me, I can't handle it!"

Let me try to explain this to you again so you understand. I was not saying that everything in my original post was fact, it was much too obviously a generalisation in many cases, and factually incorrect in others (as has been pointed out, but there are many areas where it's 100% correct too). I was trying to explain why some Europeans are sick of America or think Americans are stupid. Whether you like it or not, while you're vigorously flag waving, many other people are getting gradually more sick and more vocal about their dislike of America.

This is a fact, indisputable and caused by many of the reasons I listed. If you think it's wrong or sad I agree, but it remains a fact. Telling me I'm full of sh!t changes nothing.

Let me get this straight. You admit its nothing but generalizations and inaccurate facts and you expect no one in the US to have a problem with it? LOL

If anything you just proved what many Americans think about European bias!

You are full of it, by your own admission! LOL

What IS your point? Why do you feel like you need to be the damn spokesperson (SP?) for the a-holes who hate Americans?

<< Probably because they're afraid of us taking over Castle Greyskull and the rest of Eternia. 🙂 >>

That's the other huge reason!

<<
Well firstly, well done reading the start of my post where I said 'fellow' americans. Got it? Good. Regarding the war, you really think Hitler/Germany would have stopped at taking Europe?
>>

What about Kuwait? Do you really think that Saddam would've stopped after capturing and pillaging the country of Kuwait? According to you, America decided to attack Iraq for it's own gain but promoted the attack as defense of freedom.
You are the most contradictory worthless POS I've ever heard. And if you are really an American (I don't think you are), I think that I'm joined by everybody when I say, PLEASE LEAVE.

If I read this correctly, the primary complaint is that 'England' (America) has too much exposure in other countries - movies, music, media, etc.

WELL, It's not like we're forcing you to look at us, now is it? If you're a citizen of Elbonia you're more than welcome to spend your hard-earned money on Elbonian music, movies, etc. Oh, wait a minute. You mean to tell me that Elbonians don't make movies? You don't like your own music? You have to rely on America for your culture?!?!? If that's the case, if you can't do any better in your own country, how can you possibly find fault with ours?

It's annoying when someone seems to be loud and posturing about something you're convinced isn't the case, isn't it? Congratulations, you've just proved my original post.

I should append LOL here, just so you can see I'm speaking your language. LOL.

One quick question, Skeletor. As a superior European looking down on Americans, who does not understand this wish to emulate American culture: Wasn't "skeletor" a character off of an American comic?

Ooooooh, he's got you there... Thank you for showing us the error of our ways, O Wise one!

LOL How is that? Because I challenged every point you made and instead of adressing them you ran away like a gutless coward?

<< I should append LOL here, just so you can see I'm speaking your language. LOL. >>

LOL If you can laugh after taking the kind of beating you have on this thread you need help 🙂

skeletor:

Any response to my post above? Why, if America is to blame, don't I and my wife and our families hate them too?

Elitist Euros don't like american culture because they are elitist (I knew that one was hard to figure out) 😉

If Europe en masse didn't like american culture they wouldn't consume so much of it.

Politcally people don't like America because we're big and powerful and don't mind stepping on people's toes to get what we want.

You're a European looking down on Americans? Oh no wait, that's not what you meant to imply is it?

Anyway ,that's weird, I wasn't aware I'd said that everything American was crap. It's really strange because I was sure I said that a lot of good things had come from America too. But, you know, I must be wrong because as has been so kindly pointed out to me, the name I use is from an American comic. I'd forgotten that one of the penalties for commenting on the reasoning behind why some Europeans dislike America is that you cannot use any American iconography.

Silly me.

<< good post skeletor >>

Thanks. I really didn't expect to be so roasted for it. However, I suppose most people have bundled me in with the Europeans I was commenting on, which is understandable if a little tiring.

May I ask all the flag waving people here, should all the people outside of the USA love the USA? I may have some follow up questions and remarks depending on your answers.

This a very fair comment, but you'd be surprised at how un-elitist many of the people are. In fact, depending on the country you visit, you'd be forgiven if you came to the conclusion that it _was_ Europe en masse. But thanks for your reply, refreshing after some of the ones I've read.

What I took your original post to mean is that you can rationalize/sympathize with why American culture would cause other countries to feel superior. I don't see anything positive about your post at all.

And your use of the word 'programmes' in place of the proper 'programs' revokes your membership in club America. Now get back to the other side of the bloody pond!

You took it up wrongly. That's all.
