I don't know why we have so many rice haters here, but I am definately included in the group.

I was hanging out with some friends at our apartment complex here at this camp, and a Civic with a fat exhaust and some clears went by us and I yelled "RICE ROCKET!" and the guy pulled up into the drive for the building across from us, rolled down his window and was like "Fsck you buddy!"

I don't know if it's hate more than a misunderstanding of those involved with these types of cars. I agree it's rediculous to see Civics with stickers, spoilers, and other misc. equipment made to show that they're fast, when we all know they aren't and are not made to be.

Yes, it's illogical and nonsensical, but most of the things that occur today are so. I don't need any examples for this, just think about such things in your life.

there's ricers.. then theres ricers..

Some ricers go out of their way to pretty up their car to make it look like a half assed ferrari.. some that actually do modifications to their engines.. (and i don't mean painting some bar to match the gay color on the outside). bodykits? if it makes you feel cool with your friends.. thats fine.

here in southeast FL we don't have real ricers.. we have a different kind of rice.. (mostly ghetto kids.. black and white.. hardly any asians).. they tape up their car.. vinyl or electric tape.. get ugly white outs or altezza's.. ugly spoilers.. huge mufflers.. and put a buncha stickers on their cars. we have high and low class. you'll see some 87 civic with a type R si-r vtec sticker on it.. or..

and this is right outside my house.. (someday i'll take a picture for you guys) there's a 323 with an M3 badge and changed out rims. (pretty funny.. guys caught me making fun of him a couple times).

I have another neighbor with a black 4 door accord.. H badge is replaced with a big R (type r).. and a couple other stickers/crap. funny because it still says Accord EX on it right under. (no modifications to the car). it's terrible.

Bahahahahahahahahahaha1!! Jealous!? Nah, all I need to do is drive OVER them in my truck.

I personally do not mind ricers... I like having something to point and laugh at.

some of those cars are beautiful machines. bordering on art. I've seen some 'ricer' cars that made me drool. What I dislike are the posers in toyotas with Type-R stickers, etc. Custom cars are one thing, slapping stickers on your car is kinda lame. Hell, i've got some white turn signals in my blazer. Do you all hate me?

Back to the topic

I respect the people who race in the Import Drag race series..
The others are just trying to be cool and in a few years they will say dam I wasted alot of money on that ugly plastic car..

Almost all of us did it. Some of just had better taste in cars than today's youth.
Its my opinion ! If you dont like get over it.

because the older people hate to see younger kids enjoying themselves and actually doing something halfway constructive.

It's not like any of you 'rice' hater have to drive 'riced' out cars or even be forced to look at them.

Now don't get me wrong, those cars do look ridiculous, especially when all they do is slap a bunch of stickers on there and a huge spoiler and an exhaust tip, and then try to race anyone they see. But some people actually modiffy the entire car like engine, suspension, tires, aerodynamics, etc.

I think that 'ricing' cars is a passion just like restoring muscle cars. Hmmm. we don't see a lot of active hate towards muscle cars do we?

I of course support anything that makes people happy as long as it does not infringe upon my rights And i don't remember being killed by a 'riced' out car or any other rights being infringed by 'riced' out cars.

For all the people on this board who like 'ricing' cars and think 'riced' out cars look cool then you won't have many people on this board that are on your side. Sorry but that is the way it is.

BE SAFE AND HAPPY 'RICING'

P.S. Is sackofalltrades still on this board?

Of course, there are nice cars and there are ricers. Like everything else, there are those who have done it, been doing it, and are good at it. Some know how to make cars look nice w/o making it look rediculous with excessive stickers, weird sounds, and pseudolowering.

Like most things in life, kids will imitate and think they're cool because they're doing it. Think, all kids imitate, it's a method of learning.

It's probably why we rarely see old people in such cars, they've learned :) The reality is that most of these guys don't even race. They want to make their cars look nice (nice being dependent on the observer) and get some females who believe so also.

I drive a stock Accord 2000 and I've never seen any Civic or other Accord rev up on my at a corner or anything.

Phokus - Because they think (as do I) "riced" cars aren't worth the cas in the tank, they are somehow racists? If you are referring to the term "riced," it is because 1) the cars that are defecated in this way are usually Japanese imports, and 2) the defecaters are usually Asian.

Seems like an appropriate term to me.

Captain_Howdy - There is a difference between modifying and ricing. Ricing is purely cosmetic, and done in poor taste with the aim of making a car look like mroe than it is. Modifying is jsut what you said... engine upgrades, suspension upgrades, etc.

i dont know the true meaning of a "ricer" nor do i give two sh!ts too, but i do have an opinion(go figure!)

I hate all kids who have these ugly assed supped up loud bass pounding piece of sh1t cars, who race up and down mine and many other streets causing accidents, skidding around, taking up waaay to many parking spots at Taco Bell, or Dunkin Donuts, acting like they rule the world because thier cars are louder than mine.
actually in my neighborhood, it seems that the more American cars i see driving around, the more white trash is in side of them, and the more ricers i see, the more puerto rican trash i see inside of them. either way you go, they both suck and are pieces of sh!t to me...

There are always those who believe they rule the world, usually found among those in the late teens, but can be found in other age groups also. They're trying to adapt to the fact that they once believed they were the center of the world, but are now realizing that they are not and this is their attempt to take that back.

It doesn't have to be ricers, but a lot of people act this way. They do not understand where they stand in the pecking order of this planet.

I had a black Stock 88 RX7 that looked better than any Joked up Ricer I've ever seen. I've also have a 78 Formula Firebird that looked better than any of these Ricers. You see it's not that the cars come from Japan (as I owned a RX7) it's the ridiculous crap these wankers do to them trying to make them look sportier.

I hate the stupid ones. The ones that only go for looks, that fake it all for appearances. They sink so much money into giant mufflers and huge spoilers, ground effect kits, lowered suspension, etc. Nothing that actually improves the cars performance, handling, or even really appearance.

Rice boys almost ALWAYS drive like butthead assmonkeys too. They tailgate, weave, swerve, race, tailgate, and act like total idiots on the road. The number of times I've had a rice boy crawl slowly up on my ass, his tiny 105 hp Civic engine screaming in pain, and act like I'm in the way. I then press a little on my accelerator and leave his worthless butt in the distance. I'll then move to the right if I can going my usual too fast speed.

And you know what happens?

I always hear that whining engine scream slowly get louder and louder as the little dweeb floors it all the way to catch up to my cruising speed, then he veers in behind me, IN THE RIGHT LANE, and rides my ass again to prove that he's faster in his 1/3 the hp of my car little crapola mobile. I leave him in the dust AGAIN and the cycle repeats. They don't learn.

You wanna hear something interesting? I have never encountered an Asian ricer. Not once. Here they are ALL 16 year old white kids that were given mommy's '95 civic and they rice out the appearance. They floor it through city intersections so everyone can enjoy thier 6in coffee can muffler sound. They crank the stock Honda stereo bass so high the distorion alone rattles windows at lights.

They are idiot poseurs, drive like arrogant little sh!ts without the cars to back up thier pride, and annoy the living hell out of everyone around them.

However, for anyone who actually improves thier car, mods it, races on a trakc, gets good 1/4 mile times, etc - nothing but respect. Its the wanna-be poseur rich white kids that piss me off.

Thanks for the space to rant :)

RedDawn - Who makes the RX7? I am not up on my manufacturers, but I thought it was Mazda.

Captain - Call it what you want. When someone refers to something as "hill-billied," does that bother you too? It isn't an ethnic slur, it is a description of what has been done to the car. It is easier than listing all the defecating things that are done to the cars.

I have to admit I think there is way too much complaining about the ricers, it kind of falls under the title, Kids will be kids. I think of some of the stupid crap I did as a high schooler (straight pipe on a VW rabbit DIESEL LOL) and suddenly the ricers don't seem all that bad ;-)

Optimus - by lowering a car (usually a spring kit) you are effectively lowering the cars center of gravity and allowing it to stick to the road a little better. It is performance, just not HP and Torque.

Otherwise, yes, watermelon cannon exhaust systems, spoilers and touring wings, and ground effects are all ricey. Good rant :)

Ratkil: I agree with you, if you've read any of my posts, it's what I believe.
Atleast they're doing something productive and it isn't illegal. Unless they're making shady modifications or making money illegally to buy their parts.

RX7 is Mazda, it's amazing what they can do with what is technically a two cylinder. All of 1.3 liters of displacement.

I don't care much for first generation RX7's, but the second and especially third are gorgeous vehicles.
