<< 2) Then we have something like, say, hockey. I can see that watching the playoffs might be kinda fun but all of the games in the season? There are so many it must get boring. At least with Football a team doesn't play many games - in baseball they play over a hundred! My God, why!?!?! >>

There are 162 games in a baseball season, to be exact. They play 6 times a week for 6 months of the year. They play that many games because they can. They would in football and hockey too except in those sports the players get beat up so much they need time off between games - much more so in football's case. The more they play, the more money the teams, and subsequently the players, make. Although football and hockey make up for it by charging more for tickets.

And I guess people don't get bored of it [baseball] even with a game almost everyday because they get the same attendance pretty much every game.

Yes, a lot of sports may be somewhat stupid, but hey - who plays football for the game? It's all about the money and the cheerleaders!!!!!!!!!

I mean, c'mon - I think "getting some" after the game is good enough to stand that pat on the a$$ :)

1) Why would somebody be "rooting" for a particular team? I remember rooting for Canada during the winter olympics of 94 (?) in hockey, but why does somebody care if their city's team wins? OK I can KIND of get it - but why would somebody living in New York give half a crap if "their team" in Florida wins? WHY does this matter?
>>

that's the point that I am trying to make. In the grand scheme of things or even the next seasson. why does it matter. ?? so chicago won the NBA playoffs for.. who knows how many years..
well with the exception of the riots that happened, why does it matter. why is it a big deal?

<<
3) People get upset or happy if their team loses or wins. I don't understand why. Why should some stranger making millions a year to play a game be your concern when he and his team mates win or lose a game?
>>

I agree I had a Teacher in the 7th grade that if the seahawks lost their game the night before we'd get piled on with homework because he'd be in a pissy mood. they had a Final Four money pool

<< Like I said: I enjoy playing sports. I do not enjoy watching them except in certain cases like the Olympics. >>

I'll concurre with that I like playing baseball even though I really SUCK at it. but I dislike watching it. although I enjoyed the ping pong compatition at the summer Olympics.

<<
Oh one last thing: People who are not into sports know what I'm talking about (yes there are more than just a few of us out there) when I say that I find it rather annoying when a stranger asks me "if I saw the game" last night. Do I ask a stranger when making conversation if he saw the most recent timeline on CPU releases coming out this year? Or if he managed to catch the performance stats of Porsche's new car? No I don't because many people don't care. Its the same with sports You might care but it doesn't mean that I do, so don't ask me about some game unless you know I give a damn first about these things!
>>

I agree. Why not bother to take the time to find out if they even like what your wanting to talk about. It's like having your uncle bill or aunt BURTHA or someone come over and tell you stuff about his dentures.... who gives a $h1T!!!

<< i can tolerate you mocking other sports...but NOT hockey >>

My thoughts exactly! Hockey has to be one of the last "mans" sport left. How many football players do you see or hear about getting hurt in the last play and being out for the next week? Lots.
>>

since when does getting the living hell beat out of you cosidered a man's sport? sounds brutal

<< You guys are not getting his point. He's not a moron, he's posting this for humor, and it's pretty funny if you just set back and enjoy it.

Does he really hate all sports? I doubt it, or else he wouldn't know so much to write about it in the first place.

ROFL.... finally someone with intelligence.
