All of the airlines are in financial trouble. Some more than others. This is a good revenue stream for them. I'm on a UA flight every other week, and to date have not had problems with them. They give me my upgrades, and treat me just fine.

Same here from a 100K member of United - soon to be Globale Services ;)

To clarify...they're all pressurized, the whole fuselage is for obvious reasons. That air used to pressurize is warmed, but it's not nearly the same as the cabin. It's well within tolerance for a dog, though.

Alot of holds are heated, though...in fact, pilots call the cargo heat the "puppy snuffer" :D

Put him in human clothes and say he's your son with a rare skin condition that causes excessive hair growth.

Globale Services ?

the next step above 100k - 1,000,000 lifetime miles with United. This gives you all sorts of hidden goodies and perks. Like for $300 a year my wife could fly anywhere I go for FREE, dozens of free upgrades each year.

She can't swim. We took her to the pool when they had a doggie swim (last day of the season). When she jumped in the water, she dove straight to the bottom, about 3.5ft. Poor thing was NOT happy and just isn't a water dog.

Not according to the public information posted by every airline regarding pet shipping. I can't imagine that there's a vast conspiracy keeping all the public in the dark. We already shipped her once from the US to Japan, and if what you're saying is true, she would be dead.

We thought about that, but the lack of a penis on HER would be an issue. Not to mention the profound snout. :)

I hate that they charge so much also. I have a 14 lb miniature schnauzer and to carry it on in the cabin it's $80 EACH WAY. $160 extra for a round trip when it's identical to putting a carry on bag under the seat.

When my wife and I moved back to the states from Germany in 1993, TMO tried the same crap with me. But they didnt use the create to large arguement, i actually forgot wat it was and my dog would have to be sent home on a different flight. There was no fricken way i was going to let that happen. So I called a buddy on my flight whos german girlfriend had a high job with TMO, she told me to come in with my orders and she listened to my story. left the office and came back with orders stating my hund could fly back with us as baggage.

Moving from OS to Conus/Conus to OS is stressfull enough without going through that crap. Oh and i had a 3 year old Rottewiler in the XL large cage. I was bearly able to squeeze the cage in the cargo hold of the bus we took from Hahn AB to Frankfurt.

just go buy the next smaller cage.

Nah, it's because more and more americans are being put on the no-fly list, and the ones that aren't, are too fat and take up two seats, or at least extra jet fuel to cart their azz around in the skies. Oh, the increasing cost of fuel probably doesn't help either.

Actually, TMO was just fine -- there's no extra fee (just a standard one) for her crate or her weight when flying on the Patriot Express to Seattle. It's only the domestic carriers which are being bastards about it.

Pics of your dog?

Here she is, ready to drive.

Too many irresponsible American pet owners do that every day around here which is why there is a huge problem with stray dogs and cats on the island. If you take the responsibility for an animal, either take it with you or have the balls to kill it if you can't find someone to adopt it.

There are plenty of people in other countries that do this as well.

My dog did very well on delta, she was a champ even though i was stressing. Some vets can give you sedatives if you are worried about that. Of course, my dog didnt go overseas. Good luck to you.
