Why air fares are high in week of April 17?

It's to catch the people who travel for Easter (April 20 this year) to be with family. This might match up with high school spring breaks as well.

I was beginning to wonder where you were, have you been taking your meds lately?

I think the current aifares suck! I am going to visit Birmingham, AL this year (finally) but all the tickets are friggin' $400+

So I'll fly for free instead using my 25,000 Alaska Airlines frequent flier miles.

The NCAA Men's basketball tournament starts on the 17th. Probably a contributing factor.

That's in March, unless they are going to start calling it "April Madness"

Could it be that every single CPA in the country will be taking a long vacation that week?

You hardly ever get a chance to stick a CPA for a few bucks, so maybe the airlines are getting their jabs in while they can.
