Whose bots are better? Q3A or UT?

I do not yet have a high speed net connection and was wondering which bots are better?

EASILY UT.... I was SO impressed at the single player game... it actually is like playing like real people... try it its good!!!

Q3A's bots achieve their "realism" by being programmed to have insane, superhuman accuracy at higher difficulty settings. The ones in UT were hand-programmed around various waypoints within each map to behave realistically. UT, at the higher difficulties, really is like playing humans. Q3A is just aggravating by comparison.

UT. I like Q3A better, but on hardocre & above the bots in Q3A are impossibly accurate. It's frustrating as hell playing on hardcore, while one step down is easy.

The q3 bots are more realistic in single player. You can give them all kinds of orders in ctf and sometimes they purposly dont listen you just like humans.

Hmmn, is this General Hardware? 😉

Anyway, I'd have to say the bots in UT are better. Viper - the bots on hardcore aren't that hard! 😉 Granted, nightmare is very very hard...but I can beat almost all the maps on hardcore. 🙂

Personally, I like it when the Q3 bots stop to chat, in the middle of a firefight. 😉

Captain, that's called poor implementation... not a feature.

oh my god.. foreversilky thats the funniest sh#t Ive read in ages!!!
Damn good line...oh and cap, the UT bots have your house surrounded, the q3 bots are dead, im comin in any time now.....

UT's bots are better.

I've beaten them on God Mode before. not impossible. I'm able to beat them on a fairly regular basis...

No! What are you dumb? They did that on purpose! You know how much easier it is to code bots that listen to everything you say? The q3 bots are meant to act like online players. Whereas the ut are not they just act like normal bots.

Thanks DLC, always glad to make someone laugh. I tried to play Q3, just didn't like it. I could play UT all day!

Cool UT quote: "Whoops, did I just blow your head off?"

I haven't played single player much at all in UT... I bought it for it's MultiPlayer and not it's single player ..
But, when DM'ing, it is Often VERY hard to tell a bot from a human during game play... This cannot be said of Q3a bots...

Yea, I haven't even finished the UT single Play.. it hasn't hurt me tho... I'm up there on the weekly and Quaterly stats....

Definitely UT. Q3 bots were programmed at the last minute (I recall they had to bring someone in for this, as that part of the game was unfinished while everything else more or less was), and it really shows. They seem to regularly rail you while you're flying off a jump pad, or always get you with the shot gun no matter how quickly you're moving around them, even on moderate difficulty.

UT bots just seem much more realistic and beatable. The AI scales nicely and the voices for the bots are a nice touch (unlike Q3's boring text).

Edit: Don't get me wrong though, Q3 is a good game, just not for the bots 🙂

"which bots are better?"

Q3 bots without a doubt. They will kick your @ss hard on Nightmare.

Now which are more realistic is another matter. UT's are more "human" then Q3's as has been mentioned before but if you had a DM between Q3's bots and UT's, id's boys would manhandle them. I just started playing the full version of UT a few days ago and already can hold my own on the "god" setting, still get my @ss kicked on Nightmare after nearly seven months of playing quite regularly.

BTW- They are so tough because they cheat, they don't miss when they shoot. Svcks on any level with a Rail Gun, you tend to die within a few seconds after spawning.

UT bots seem to be much simpler when you're playing CTF. I used to play the UTdemo, and my housemate and me coupled with 2 other bots could beat 4 other bots on the CTF, all of them set up at maximum difficulty(godlike bots and all sliders at max). Granted it took us 2 hours just to finish 1 god-damn 8 flag capture-limit game.
However, in regular DM I get my ass kicked by lousier bots.

Q3A bots are insanely accurate as mentioned, and also insanely quick. They tend to have a favorite weapon and always use it, even if they suck at it. For example, nightmare Klesk is one of the worst bots at the railgun, but it will always use it, even if it keeps missing. It fares much better against me with a plasma gun, but it will continue using the railgun while I kick its ass.

Also, sometimes Q3A bots get stuck in a level. I've seen bots get stuck in Q3DM7 in the grille area where you have to touch a switch for it to open. It'll just stand there doing nothing until I shoot it. Also in Q3DM11(Deva Station) it'll get stuck at the "Haste" power-up trying desperately to get to the Quad-Damage part even though there's an gate blocking the 2 rooms that's can only be open from the Quad-D side.

I play Q3A exclusively now, and its been a really long time since I've played UT, so I can't say anything else about the UT bots. These are just what I've noticed while playing.
