WTF...how can so many people like Carlin more than Seinfeld!???! Seinfeld is god, his material is never dull. The documentary "Comedian" is hilarious. Carlin just comes across to me as extremely crass and crude. His stuff is always the same, basically criticizing society and point out stupid shit.

Bill Cosby is just terrific live. He makes it seen so effortless. I have tons of his stuff memorized from when I was a kid. I still listen to CDs of his comedy when I am on road trips.

I like Steven Wright and Dennis Leary. Does anyone remember Leary's anti-drug commercial (I think that's what it was) on MTV several years ago? Part of it went something like: "I think you hear me knocking, and I think I'm coming in. In fact, I am in. I'm wondering around your house. And guess what: I found your bell bottoms."
I always found that hysterical for some reason.

And Steven Wright: "Curiousity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect."

Eddie Izzard is really funny too.

To add an other honorable mention, Robin Williams. His live from broadway show was the funniest ever. Got to love his take on the invention of golf by the Scottish.

In order of comedy godliness
1. Carlin
2. Cosby
3. Pryor
4. Robin Williams
5. the cast of Who's line is it anyways
6. the cast of Monty Python

Seinfeld was not even the funniest guy on his show. Kramer and George stole the show.

I can't believe there are not more votes for Eddie Murphy.
His Delirious routine is the single funniest stand up show I have ever heard.
