Who's your favorite Villain?

Kreia from KotOR II is one of my faves. One of the few Star Wars characters that makes you think of the philosophy of that universe. Obsidian is good at creating ambiguous villains. It's easy to make write things as black and white, its another to keep the audience guessing. They did the same with New Vegas and Mr. House.

I really liked Baal in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, and Legion in Shadow Man, as well as Saren in Mass Effect.

Kefka

/thread

Definitely. What sets him apart from most other villians is the fact that they're the classic hell-bent on world domination, want to cause death and chaos in the mean time types. Kefka, on the other hand, is sadistic, insane, uncontrollable, etc. Even Sephiroth had a few traits that could be considered likable or reason to find sympathy for him. Kefka, on the other hand, was just plain evil.

The one that really jumps out at me is Kefka, probably because I really hated him in the game. Although I guess I hated Sephiroth for killing Aeris too (who was my favorite character in the game to that point, and really the back-bone of my party).

I am suprised that I am picking FF characters though, since I am not that big of a fan of them. I guess they just did a better job at making the main villians truly memorable than other games. (Although the villain for FF1 was one of the least memorable villains of the RPGs I have played.)

I just started playing BG1 for the first time the other day, I bought it with BG2 and am starting to make my way through the game. Maybe I will have a new favorite villain by the time I am done.

Wouldn't you have been about 11 years old when Max Payne came out?

Can't believe it came out in 2001. I'm getting old 🙁

I guess so. To be honest though I think I was about 13 when I actually played the first one. I vividly remember the beginning when you run around the house to find Max's baby and wife murdered and the spooky voice over the telephone. Regardless of my age though, that was one of the few games I've ever played that actually moved me as a piece of art (along with Max Payne 2).

Lavos. He's simultaneously a mindless parasite that uses worlds for his own benefit, while the story works its way around the very personal effects of his existence.
