Nintendo, Valve, and Blizzard.

Same.

Specifically, within Nintendo I'm a big fan of Intelligent Systems.

- Fire Emblem series
- Advance Wars series
- Paper Mario series
- WarioWare series, if that's your thing.

Introversion.

They haven't made many games, but the ones they have are really cool/interesting (Uplink, Darwinia, Defcon).

Plus, there are linux binaries for all their games.

Blizzard and Valve make my all time favorite games. I will probably buy every game they ever make in the future.

Bioware's Bioshock made me a recent fan of Bioware as well.

Bungie, Bethesda, Bioware.

I would pretty much buy any game made by any of those studios.

Oni? Well-designed, but poor story and even worse ending.

I don't have favorites, but I have names that I trust: Bioware, Id Software, Valve, Blizzard, Squareenix, Raven, Obsidian...

Bethesda and Bioware seem to never fail for me. And while this is conjecture, I have a feeling that I'll be adding Mistwalker to that list.

Why are there a lot of PC gaming developers in this thread? Seems like a lot of people here grew up playing PC games.

I can't think of any console only developers that haven't botched at least one title.

I think that PC developers have a more public design process and that leads to more personal following amongst PC gamers than most console developers have with console gamers.

Plus, the PC gaming market has been whittled away to the point that if you're still standing (Valve, Blizzard, etc.) you must be darn good at making games.

In other news, I almost listed Clover Studio :)

I think it's hard to know a lot of console developers, most people recognize console games by their publisher instead of their developer. Another console developer I like is Retro Studios, but only because they made the metroid prime series, they really don't have a history beyond that! Square Enix is really one of the only long standing console developers that I can name. And Nintendo's first party titles, but Nintendo is such a big name that I don't really trust everything they make, so I follow specific titles.
