Who is your favorite comedian and why?

I just got back from lunch with George Carlin and Mitch Hedberg. They really needed some time out of the spotlight to get new material, but should be back on tour soon.
 
I know one guy who has done stand up a few times, he's not really good though. Otherwise I have never met any of the above. Also, many of them are dead, how can you "know" a dead person? That's impossible, the correct term for that is "knew."
