That's why its not worth having kids. You spend all kinds of time, money and energy raising them and putting them through college and what do you get out of it? Nothing. I'll never understand breeders.

Eventually they become cheap labor and a convenient outlet for all your problems.

I've decided to upgrade other parts of my computer before a video card. With dragging launch dates and poor drivers, I just am not enticed to buy a new video card right yet.

FFXI has me hooked right now and my system as it stands is really over-kill for it. I've actually considered sticking with this game until Project Offset is on the shelves. I might grab an XFX 7950GT for its silence, HDCP, and a similar X1900XT performance, but right now I'm more concerned with getting better speakers / soundcard / another monitor or at least a bigger and better one (if it exists), etc.

The only thing that might sway me right now is if nVidia fixes their SC - DA issues, and even then I'm not sure if I'd budge.

I will wait for R600's refresh (R620 ? R680 ?).

I won't do the same mistake twice (buying first variant of a generation). If that means waiting up to April then so shall it be. If that means waiting even longer, up to summer, then I don't really care either, I don't have the money for a full upgrade right now anyway, and those new generation cards costs so much it doesn't necessarily makes sense but what can one man do about that, not much.

I dunno man, I come across so many adults that hate their parents and refuse to even visit them during holidays let alone wipe their asses. These people aren't some social rejects either nor did they have some screwed up childhood, they just hate their parents for no real good reason. I suppose I'm quite cynical about the benefits of having children vs. the costs of raising them because of the events I've witnessed. With that said, I also don't see the point in having kids if you can't afford it to begin with. If a kid is going to take away from your ability to even enjoy trivial things in life like a new video card (which even a high end one isn't that expensive) then perhaps one should evaluate where they stand financially and opt out of having children if the cost means having to significantly cut back on your standard of life--haha who am I kidding if that were the case we wouldn't live in in an overpopulated world.

yea you're making no sense at all right now. do you know what you're even saying? you're comparing having children to having the latest video card. are you retarded?
mb you hate your parents, or maybe your parents hate you i'm sorry for that. but i love my parents and my grandparents and would do anything for them, and yes, that includes giving up my video card. and yes i'd give up my video card if i ever have children too.

Having kids isn't about money. If you think passing on a part of life to the world and witnessing one of the most amazing things nature has to offer you is a bill then I feel completely sorry for you.

We're talking about kids before materialistic desires. The person who originally claimed they weren't going to invest in an R600 because of family wasn't too broke for a family, he was too broke for a major dork status.

Sacrifice something irreplaceable for something replaceable and "trivial"? Wow.

Yeah unfortunately nature has offered this "amazing" ability to nearly every idiot on this planet and as a result you see the overpopulated resource starved world we have now.

Wrong, he was too broke to have a family to begin with if a small purchase like a vid card is going to put a dent in his finances. I could understand if he said something like, "yeah I won't buy a BMW this year because I need to save that money for my daughters college fund" but a video card?

P.S. Speaking of children and having a life, maybe you should give it a try rather than sitting on your ass 24/7 on AT trying to be clever with quote of the week sigs. ;)

You would be the prime example. However, since you wont reproduce yourself, there is hope.

You must be a mind reader. Or maybe he just sets his priorities, which doesnt necessarily mean financial problems.

if it's significantly better than my 8800gtx, i'm getting the R600 for sure. if it's only like 5-10%, not going to even bother.

I thought there were various problems with the 8800.

Besides, I use K-Lite Mega codec pack. And with the latest Nvidia drivers, it darkens and screws up the image too much. I only have a 6600 right now though. I had to use driver 84.21
