I'm already at 1022 and can boot at 1050 with a peltier and cB0 stepping 700 without complete stability. What I have heard is that the cco steppings will do this air cooled and thats what I'm after. I'm tired of the heat the peltier produces and all the noise of the fan setup I have to get rid of the heat. What I want is to know what other people are achieving with these chips and with what cooling setup ??? ANYONE ???
Tried em both. It's all in the luck of the particular chip you get. I've had both cB0 and cC0 run just fine at 1GHz with just air cooling. I've also had both fail miserably to even attain 933.
NOS440, where did you find cC0's in stock?
I ordered it from a thread of this forum from about a month ago. Also I havn't myself witnessed any cB0 steppings run at over a ghz air cooled and if they did it was the early chips that are impossible to find now. My 700 will only run 933 air cooled with total stability. Fire up the Peltier and she goes 1022 mhz rock stable. I want the best of all worlds the benefits of the higher memory, disk, and agp performance of 146 to 155 FSB and Air cooling without the heat.
I have a 700e cC0 running at 1001mhz on my CUSL2 at 143 mhz bus speed. Max temp with my Super Orb is 45 celsius and 29 at idle. Voltage is 1.75, .05 over stock and will try lower after a bit of burn in. Yes it is stable. Unreal Tournament and 3dMark2000 run just fine(7049 with my Asus 77000 GTS btw). Lucky I guess. When I asked what stepping the processors were when I bought it Saturday they said cbo but Sandra says cC0 and apparently it is. Micron pc-133 ram for those interested.
Well Folks got my P-3 700 cC0 stepping today from bonkers325 (great trader) and let me tell ya this chip is awesome. At first I thought I got screwed the thing does not like my P3V4X Asus motherboard at all and yes I updated the bios. But when you put the chip in a CUSL2 it flies I was able to run it all the way up to 1093 with just a GORB cooler and then I snapped on my single 50W peltier and was able to go 1107 stable and 1120 about 80 % stable but I think my ram was giving out even with lowering it to cas 3 and yes I was running cas 2 at 158 mhz gotta love the Crucial memory. I paid a whopping 115 for this 128 meg shipped to my door (when the prices were way down the summer) Oh forgot to add this is at 1.8 volt
As far as the stepping goes(and yes I am not pulling it apart to find out the codes on the chip) WCPUID says stepping six but I have an easier way to tell for anyone out their. Basically if its default voltage is 1.7v then it is a cC0 for sure, caveat being that some cC0's are also made at 1.65v default.
I got it at ATIC Computers in Vancouver and as far as I can tell they have no older ones left anyway. I can't imagine a big wholesaler(say like ATIC) would have the older ones anyway as P3's are so hard to find anyway.
Hrmm... sounds wonderful!!
anybody know a great Dual Socket 370 MB for dual O/C, i have 500$ in stuff free, think i'll pickup dual 700 cC0. I know they don't make many dual's.
