Who's right bios or 3rd party aps when it comes to temps?

i'm running an unlocked barton 2500+ @ 2.2ghz
with MSI K7N2 Delta w/ 512 mb ocz dual channel DDR400
Antec 350 Psu

My bios says cpu temp is 55c, although mother board monitor 5 and Sisoft04 says the cpu is 39c-41c

now, My pc has never once froze, crashed or shutdown even while playing HL2 and Cs:s on Max settings at 1024x768... and I can click on 5 differant shortcuts on desktop and one time and the aps open in under 3 seconds all together, so i knw the pc is running well...

My question is though, how can I know what my cpu temp really is if Im getting mixed temps like I am?

I'd say it all depends on the motherboard. Have you tried searching for your particular MB to see if there is a discrepancy between BIOS and software temperature readings?

okay i see some cpu temp detect updates on website, but it has K7N2 delta L and K7N2 Delta ISL, im sure this is a delta model, but how do I know for sure?

From my experience all the apps (3rd party) read the same sensor that the mobo does so if the temps are calibrated incorrectly every program should read the same. Often times there are some bios updates that fix temp calibration. I noticed for my Abit IC7 they had one at the bios 24...I haven't upgraded to it yet though.....

im about to flasf bios with an update I found, but can anyone tell me what live update2 is and how I can use it?

got bios flashed through live update, was very easy too, tried finding a floppy drive and installing was more of a pain in ass til my dumb self figured out what live update is haha
