Why vote for him when he's just like the rest of them? Runs as a Republican when he knows he's a Libertarian (and has previously ran as such), so he runs under false pretenses since he knows and has said he wouldn't win otherwise. Is a doctor of medicine yet doesn't believe in evolution, clearly to appease his rabid anti-evolution base in Galveston/Houston. Claims publicly he supports leaving abortion up to the states but once said in a political survey that he'd ban abortion at the federal level, complete antithesis to his states rights stances, again to appease his rabid pro-life base in his district. Has been staunchly anti-war for years yet voted for ground troops into Afghanistan. Again, to appease his rabid pro-military base in Texas.
I considered voting for Paul once thinking the dude may actually believe his own rhetoric, but after some basic research Paul was just like any other politician; ends justify the means.

He doesn't stand a chance but he's got my vote unless somebody better comes along. Voting for a hopeless third party at least indicates that I want more choice than the Dems and Reps offer.

Right, he initially supported the war in Afghanistan, not because of 9/11, but because of his pro-military base in Texas. Then he did a 180 on his own constituents and opposed the invasion of Iraq.

He has old-school conservatives in his constituency too. He appeased both by voting for one and not the other.

You know, you're not a dumb guy. You make some crazy statements, like the one above, and I think it's your hatred for Paul that brings them out. Most people aren't fans of Paul, but they respect him, and then go on with their life. But a couple of people here, you especially, just have a deep hatred for him. He's really insignificant in the political realm, yet I bet you get a raging erection when you see a thread about Paul, and can't wait to post in it. It certainly appears to be the case.

So if you don't want to be made fun of, either don't post, or do something more constructive than be bots, and write good posts. Naive nonsense about Ron Paul being a different type of politician who makes decisions on values might have been believable when he was an unknown quantity. At this point it's pretty sad, as its already been debunked, we've established that here many times. If you're sensitive about the subject, bring something to the table because, frankly, when you literally rip-off explanations and links from your favorite candidates' own web sites and YouTube channels, you are no different than jpeyton or CAD or any other hack who can't come up with valid source material that isn't from some institute that openly pimps their ideologies. If you truly don't think that's the case, you'll have to figure out for yourself one day why you defend Paul's strengths and ignore his weaknesses while simultaneously telling other hacks they're hacks.
So if you don't believe in evolution and want to end the Federal Reserve, you're going to have to come to terms someday that those are truly nutty, kooky positions to take, and Ron Paul buys into both of them. Dems and Repubs have their faults, but by and large their members believe in evolution and the Fed.

Of the last round of candidates, he was one of the better ones. I have little doubt that he will be one of the better ones in 2012 as well. I do have some significant disagreements with some of his positions, but there is no perfect politician.
And here's the problem, someone else who has no idea how government should be run yet feels perfectly justified to spread an uninformed opinion.
hint: He returns the money so he doesn't receive more the next year, this helps prevent wasteful spending and inflation. If for example the post office did this, we'd be paying much less for stamps and the prices wouldn't increase every year.

I have to admit...I like a lot of what the guy says, but IMO, he's not electable.
He's too "fringe-whacko" for mainstream America, TOO conservative for most of the Republican Party power-mongers, too far right-wing for most Democrats.
I could promise to pledge $1,000,000 to his campaign coffers if he ever got to be the Republican candidate for President and I know I'd never have to pony up a single penny...
BOTH parties seem to keep giving us candidates that suck the corporate tit and just don't give a fuck about "The People."
