what about alternative xmas songs. like soul coughing and others.

I would like that, but the majority of my listeners prefer the more traditional stuff. I get 13 hours/day from Dallas, and I assume a Christmas store plays it over their speakers. I had Carol Of The Bells by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra on there, but removed it recently because it had one of the lowest ratings of all my songs (listeners can give a thumbs up or thumbs down for any song).

The site has a scheduler that allows you to schedule playlists to play at a certain day/hour. I may devote a few hours once a week to alternative or rock music. Stryper (80's hair Christian band) does a great rendition of Winter Wonderland. Loud guitars, solos, and all. I do have Phantom Planet's "Winter Wonderland" on there, but it's pretty tame.

I've been listening to my Trans-Siberian Orchestra CD's in my car all summer long, can't get sick of them no matter how much I listen to them, or whatever season it may be. TSO does "Carol Of the Bells"? What CD is it on? It's not on either The Christmas Attic, or Christmas Eve & Other Stories. Are you referring to Christmas Eve/Sarajevo? Add TSO, and I'll be listening.

Some of my other favorite Christmas CD's are (as much as I hate to say it) Jewel "A Holiay Collection, and Ray Conniff's Christmas albums.

I put "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo" back on. You're right, it's not titled "Carol Of The Bells," but it's clearly that song. I found out it had a low rating based on 2 or 3 votes. Not enough to take it off. I'd like to add more, but it can't turn off my loyal traditional listeners. I'm a headbanger at heart, and love TSO (hope to see them this year), but am afraid some of their stuff will give headaches to the mainstream crowd. I do have the acoustic "First Noel" on there.

[Edit: I'm listening now, and never realized the "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" melody. I never paid attention, as I thought the whole song was Carol Of The Bells.]

I have some songs from Jewel's "Joy: A Holiday Collection", and TONS of Ray Conniff. Check it out when you're ready to get in the holiday spirit.

Put soem smooth jazz christmas melodies....

the songs from Home Alone... are always great.

Give me some specific requests. I have The Drifter's "White Christmas" playing. It always reminds me of the scene where Kevin is doing the dishes, and the Michael Jordan display is dancing. I think Home Alone also had "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," which is also on there.

my wife is ready for christmas music

Celine Dion - These are Special Times
Jimmy Buffett - Island Christmas
Johnny Mathis - A Personal Christmas
Mariah Carey - Merry Christmas
Various - Superstar Christmas

My wife likes these.

Why are you trying to get more listeners? I don't get it. Won't this just suck up more bandwidth?

My $20/month gets me a listener cap of 300 listeners. I'm currently at 7-15 at any moment throughout the day. It's almost a competition among broadcasters to be ranked the highest in your genre. I'm currently #4. I would like to have 300 listeners at all time (and I will in Dec). Why would I care about bandwidth? It helps keep me interested in investing my time, if I know more people are enjoying it.

hey hey now. Don't get offended. I thought you were saying you pay $20 to your bandwidth provider. I thought this was being streamed from your computer and that if it got overloaded, you would have to pay for more bandwidth. I didn't realize it was some contest. I am listening now, if that helps.

I can't stand Christmas music. the only song I can even remotely tolerate is Mariah Carey's "All i want for christmas is you" simply because it was a special song for me and a former gf.

I love Christmas music! I'm more old school, though.

I have an Elvis Christmas CD (Blue Christmas!), that Time-Life Treasury of Christmas CD thingy "As Seen on TV", some instrumental/symphony Christmas CDs, and a Country Christmas Classics CD set (country legends). Yep, Christmas music rocks.

If we play it in Winamp do we need to keep that IE popup open for you to get credit?

No, close all popups. I have it saved in my Music Match jukebox playlists (so I can hear it in MP3Pro), and I see my listeners go up by one when I open it.

Please don't make it a burden to help me out. I don't win any money from it, and it's not really a contest. Just listen if you like Christmas music, and you were going to listen to some soon anyway. Or have it open in the background if you're just a nice guy, I guess. 🙂

WHOA! Listening hours SKYROCKETED yesterday! I got the most from Miami/Fort Lauderdale. Total of 64 hours just from Miami. Who was that?

Other high listeners were:
Phoenix - 30 hrs (me...no one usually beats me, as I run 24 hours at home, and ~8 from work simultaneously.)
Dallas 19 hrs (they're always high)
Paducah/Cape Girardeau/Harrisburg/Mt Vernon - 11.5 hrs
Lexington - 7 hrs
Nashville - 6.5 hrs
Champaign/Springfield/Decatur - 6 hrs
Huntsville/Decatur - 5.5 hrs
Columbus, GA - 3.75 hrs
Atlanta - 3 hrs

I'd like to know who Miami was. Had to be more than 1, as there are only 24 hours in a day. I'm still #4 in the Holiday genre, but jumped to #752 overall. There's many stations on Live365, and I was in the top 50 last year. Another Christmas station hit #1 in Dec.

If you have iTunes, someone said you can stream the station by entering http://www.live365.com/play/rob9874. It worked that way on the MAC version, so I assume Windows is the same.

Heh, that was partly me from Champaign, but I didn't run it 6 hours...maybe Amused ran it some.

I used to live in Champaign. U of I alum (although I didn't graduate there.) I lived in Scott Hall, and the D-Chi house. 1111 S. 1st St.

Yesterday, Miami had 80 hours and 37 minutes. Who's listening in Miami?!?!

I installed the Live365 player a while ago and immediately lost all other sound.

I can get music from the player but no windows sounds, game sounds, explorer sounds, media player sounds etc. Anyone else get this or know what to do about it? Nothing is muted in the mixer btw.

Christmas music rocks. Will do when the time comes for it to start. I've been itching for it to start, puts me in such a good mood.
